AWAKEN, the third album from All Classical Radio’s award-winning Recording Inclusivity Initiative, has been submitted for GRAMMY® Award consideration.
Released earlier this year on Navona Records and PARMA Recordings, AWAKEN shines a spotlight on the music of contemporary composers Kirsten Volness, Nicole Buetti, and Nancy Ives. We are very proud of this project created to bring more voices, stories, and perspectives into classical music.
Composed in collaboration with Shoshone-Bannock poet Ed Edmo and Cherokee photographer Joe Cantrell, "Celilo Falls" combines large-scale orchestral architecture with poetry and prose to depict the history of the Falls, and the Native communities that have lived there for millennia. From the Missoula floods that formed the gorge, to the inundation of the Falls in 1957, this important work chronicles the experience of those who’ve lost so much.
