Donate Life Northwest Mission: to save lives and improve health through the promotion of organ, eye, and tissue donation in Oregon and SW Washington.

On behalf of regional recovery agencies and transplant centers, Donate Life Northwest is the voice of the 2.7 million Oregonians who have said YES to organ, eye and tissue donation. Serving Oregon and Southwest Washington since 1976, our programs and services include:

- managing the Oregon Donor Registry, the state's confidential database of registered organ, eye and tissue donors, and registering Washington residents through the Washington Donor Registry
- providing high school teachers with free classroom presentations and comprehensive curriculum resources, via GoRecycleYourself.com
- supporting volunteers in their efforts to raise local awareness, through workplace partnerships, donor drives, public presentations, and more
- serving print, digital and television media as an accurate, reputable and nationally recognized resource on donation
-educating DMV employees about the difference they make when they ask, on our agency's behalf: "Do you wish to register as an organ, eye and tissue donor?"
-organizing special events and fundraisers to unite our community and sustain our life-saving work

A heartfelt thank you to the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Transplant Program for supporting Donate Life Northwest as a Silver Sponsor of our upcoming Lifesavers Breakfast!

For decades, OHSU has been helping save and transform lives through organ transplantation, giving thousands of people facing life-limiting illnesses a second chance at life.

With a dedicated team performing more than 200 organ transplants each year, including kidney, heart, liver, and pancreas transplants, OHSU continues to play a vital role in advancing transplant medicine and improving outcomes for patients and families.

This past Sunday, Donate Life Northwest hosted a Coffee & Chat at Hamley Café in Pendleton, bringing members of our community together for a morning of conversation, connection, and friendship.

A heartfelt thank you to Phil, a heart transplant recipient, and Denise Weitz, Cecilia Donnelly, and Donavin Jewell for joining us and bringing such warmth, companionship, and community spirit to the gathering!

We're grateful for these opportunities to slow down, share stories, reconnect, and enjoy time together. It's the people and relationships that make our Donate Life community so special.

This year, we inviteyou to honor someone special by sharing a photo and tribute for our Día de Mu***os Ofrenda.

These tributes will be included in a special display at our Lifesavers Breakfast on November 2, creating a meaningful space to remember and celebrate the lives and legacies of our loved ones.

Whether you're honoring a donor hero, family member, or someone whose life left a lasting impact on yours, we would be honored to include them.

Two-year-old John Miller has spent most of his young life fighting kidney disease. Born with hydronephrosis, he faced repeated hospitalizations, serious health scares, and eventually the need for a kidney transplant.

Then his family received an extraordinary gift in the midst of extraordinary grief.

John’s older cousin, Lance, died in a motorcycle accident. Lance’s family chose organ donation, and his kidney turned out to be an exceptional genetic match for John. On June 3, John received the transplant that would change his life.

When Mikey was just 15 months old, a severe infection led to sepsis, multi-organ failure, cardiac arrest, and the need for ECMO, a form of life support that temporarily did the work of his heart and lungs.

During his three months in the hospital, Mikey needed repeated blood transfusions to help keep the ECMO system running. His mom, Allie, remembers thinking about the strangers whose donations were helping save her son.

Today, Mikey is a thriving 3-year-old. He lives with chronic kidney disease, but his family is grateful for how far he has come.

Inspired by the people who helped save Mikey, Allie began donating blood herself and now gives regularly.

A big thank you to Pendleton High School and the Oregon Science Teachers Association (OSTA) for hosting another fantastic Annual Conference!

Our very own Sandy Jewell was there representing Donate Life Northwest, connecting with science teachers from across Oregon and sharing the educational resources and programs we offer to schools.

Over the years, this conference has taken Sandy throughout the state, from the Portland Metro Area to Central Oregon, the Willamette Valley, the Oregon Coast, and now Eastern Oregon! Each year brings new opportunities for meaningful conversations with the incredible educators who help inspire the next generation.

This year, Sandy was especially excited to showcase the new tissue samples generously provided by Solvita, which will help enhance our school presentations and give students an even better understanding of the importance and impact of tissue donation.
