Last year, Friends supplied seeds, soil amendments and vegetable starts to all of Portland’s Produce for People (PFP) programs. With this support, PFP groups donated 27,000 pounds of produce to local food pantries!

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆! Our Willamette Week Give!Guide campaign will raise money to support all of the Friends of Portland Community Gardens programs, including the Friends gift card investment in each community garden and the materials Friends provides to Portland’s Produce for People programs. Give!Guide campaign starts today and runs through midnight, Dec. 31st.

𝗕𝗢𝗡𝗨𝗦! Today we’re generating a big buzz with a special kickoff day donation incentive sponsored by our longtime supporters at Nossa Familia Coffee. Twelve lucky donors will receive a one-pound bag of Nossa Familia coffee beans — every donation of $10 will be entered to win and there’s no limit!

On behalf of Produce for People PDX, thank you, Friends of Portland Community Gardens, for supporting Produce for People (PFP) programs!

Three times a year, FPCG collaborates with Portland Parks & Recreation Community Gardens to give vegetable starts to all of Portland's PFP groups. This ensures that our PFP beds are filled with crops during the growing season.

The Friends also provides seeds and soil amendments each spring. With this help, our PFP groups are able to grow more vegetables to donate to local food pantries.

Friends of Portland Community Gardens will be participating in the Willamette Week Give!Guide this fall. This wonderful fundraising event starts on this Sunday, Nov. 1st, and runs through December 31st. Money raised in this event helps Friends fund advocacy for community gardens, supports programs like Mason Bee Education events, Produce for People, and provides funds for tools and supplies at every Portland Parks Community Gardens.

We are proud to be a part of Willamette Week's Give!Guide "hunger" category this year. Friends supports the Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) Community Garden's Produce for People (PFP) program. This program grows vegetables and fruit to donate to local food pantries. Each year Friends collaborates with the Community Garden department to supply seeds, starts, and soil amendments to the PFP groups.
The campaign begins on Sunday, November 1, 2026. Please be generous!

Produce for People PDX (PFP) is a volunteer group who grows produce for local food pantries. Friends help PFP groups by supplying seeds, starts, and fertilizer each year to help them grow more produce.

This is the fourth year Friends of Portland Community Gardens will participate in the SeedMoney Challenge. Thanks to our donors' generosity, last year we raised enough money to supply all of Portland’s Produce for People (PFP) programs with seeds, soil amendments, and vegetable starts for the entire year.

The SeedMoney Challenge is a group crowdfunding competition. 100% of the money raised will go towards helping our local PFP groups grow more vegetables and fruits to donate to local food pantries.

The SeedMoney Challenge runs Nov. 15 through Dec. 15.

Friends of Portland Community Gardens is holding their annual Mason Bee Cocoon Harvesting workshop.

Sunday Oct. 11, 2:30 - 4 pm
Switchback Saloon, 4847 SE Division St.

Mason Bee expert Stephen Anderson will show how to:
• extract cocoons out of the bee house
• inspect and clean cocoons and the nesting trays
• identify pests and parasites
• prepare cocoons for winter storage in the fridge

If this is your first time harvesting cocoons or want a refresher, this is a great hands-on workshop to harvest your cocoons and prepare them for winter storage.
