The Portland U15 Boys wrapped up their season this weekend with a pair of tough matches that showcased their resilience and determination.
On Saturday, the boys traveled to Western but couldn't quite find their rhythm, falling 0-4.
Sunday brought one final opportunity against a DeWitt squad that entered the match undefeated. Portland was determined to leave everything on the field in their season finale.
DeWitt struck first, but Brian answered with a goal to even things up. DeWitt regained the lead before Cooper found the back of the net to keep Portland within striking distance. Another DeWitt goal made it 3-2 heading into halftime.
The second half belonged to Portland. Hayden buried a beautiful free kick, and Brian added his second goal of the day to put Portland ahead. The defense dug in and refused to give DeWitt another opportunity, shutting them out for the remainder of the match and securing an impressive comeback victory over an undefeated opponent.
What a way to finish the season! This group showed tremendous growth, heart, and perseverance all year long. We are proud of the effort and commitment these boys brought every time they stepped on the field. Great season, Portland! ⚽️ 🥅

U10 boys lost their last game against DeWitt. They started strong, but after the first goal they lost confidence until we could talk at half time. They went back out and only allowed one more for the rest of the half. All in all, they improved a lot over the season.

⚽️ Portland U9 Boys Season Finale ⚽️

The Portland U9 Boys wrapped up their season with a hard-fought battle against top-seeded Laingsburg. 💪

The first half started slowly, and Portland found themselves trailing 0-3 early. Despite the deficit, the boys never quit and came out with renewed energy and determination in the second half. 🔥

Portland got on the board when Laingsburg accidentally scored an own goal, giving the team some momentum. ⚽️ Everett followed with a goal of his own to make it 2-3 and put pressure on the league leaders. Laingsburg answered with another goal to extend their lead to 2-4, but once again the boys responded. Everett scored his second goal of the game to cut the deficit back to one and keep the comeback hopes alive! 🙌

With Portland pushing hard on offense in search of the equalizer, Laingsburg capitalized on a late opportunity and scored their fifth goal. Even then, our boys continued to battle until the final whistle. 👏

❤️ While the result didn’t go our way, the effort, determination, and fight shown by this team were incredible. The growth each player demonstrated throughout the season was remarkable, both individually and as a team. From the first practice to the final game, these boys showed tremendous improvement, teamwork, and sportsmanship. 🌟

🏆 Coaches and parents should be extremely proud of what this group accomplished. Thank you to all of our players, families, and supporters for a fantastic season. The future is bright for this team!

Portland U9 Boys earned a strong 4-1 victory over DeWitt SC in DeWitt today!

Everett opened the scoring in the first half to give Portland an early lead. The offense continued to apply pressure in the second half, with Everett adding two more goals to complete his hat trick and Timmy finding the back of the net as well.

The entire team played aggressively on offense and created numerous scoring opportunities throughout the match. Defensively, Portland was solid and organized, limiting chances and playing tough from start to finish. Our goalkeeper had an outstanding game, making several excellent saves to help preserve the lead.

DeWitt scored with about five minutes remaining, but Portland remained in control and finished the match with a convincing 4-1 win.

Great effort from everyone and a fantastic team performance!
