Thank you to Maureen at the St. Augustine diocese for the invitation to speak at this month’s Muffins 4 Life event in Jacksonville. Thank you to the 3 moms and babies who volunteered for the live ultrasound that was part of my speech and presentation. Things are ramping up on all fronts. I pray we are ready for whatever is to come.

I missed the first day of school. I’m in Florida this week, giving a live ultrasound presentation to a Jacksonville group who is doing their best to shrink the distance between Florida and Michigan so I can be there regularly to provide fetal biology education via live ultrasound presentations to school students. I sent this text to my 17-year old son on his first day of his senior year…a day I wasn’t there to witness🥲💕🙏

Union City HS feels like going home for me. While I attended a high school in a neighboring town, this high school is where my mom went to school and where my sister currently works and her children attend. On 4/20/26, Life On Display provided 5 live ultrasound presentations to almost 100 students and staff during biology, anatomy and life science classes with the help of two amazing moms who were able to give their entire day to the effort. Their babies were 8 weeks and 27 weeks and they did not disappoint!

This is officially the youngest baby we have put on display and the students and teachers alike were shocked at how beautiful life is at that age. You could even still see the yolk sac that is only a little smaller than an 8 week baby who measures about 1/2 inch long. The baby’s head, abdomen, arms and beating heart could be discerned thanks to the quality of imaging.

Just a reminder that ultrasound is safe but elective ultrasound needs to be cognizant of the delicacy of life at its earliest stages. Keeping each presentation of an 8 week fetus to less than 5 minutes is the prudent choice and makes sense for this type of presentation anyway since the baby does not move much. It’s enough to see the baby, see the flicker that is the heart beating and point out the baby’s surroundings, including uterine wall, amniotic fluid, yolk sac.

We need 2-3 pregnant moms between 10-20 weeks gestation and another 2-3 pregnant moms between 21-30 weeks and available for part or all of the school day on 4/20/26 who would be open to sharing their little one with high school students as part of a biology/anatomy lesson!
