Yesterday was the first time I was invited to do live ultrasounds as part of a fundraising gala for Voices for Life in South Bend, IN. I was in the corner near the bar of the large ballroom where the event took place and had these 5 babies escorted by their beautiful moms take turns showing off for the guests during the cocktail hour. It was a wonderful addition to the event and it was especially fun for me.

Picture this…a dad, dressed formally for the gala, with a drink in his hand smiling from ear to ear as the guests were congratulating him and asking questions about his baby. It reminded me of the nursery window concept from the mid-20th century. Same baby…different stage of development…different “nursery” window…same proud father. The only thing missing were the congratulatory ci**rs. It was a magical look at the evolution of technology and fatherhood that I could not have anticipated and I loved it!😍🥰

These seven babies and their mamas made our Coldwater presentations a huge hit! From 11 weeks to 30 weeks, approximately 100 students got to observe fetal development at its earliest stages. Thank you to the families who donated their time to make this happen and to the school for hosting us again this year💙🩷

Thank you to Maureen at the St. Augustine diocese for the invitation to speak at this month’s Muffins 4 Life event in Jacksonville. Thank you to the 3 moms and babies who volunteered for the live ultrasound that was part of my speech and presentation. Things are ramping up on all fronts. I pray we are ready for whatever is to come.

I missed the first day of school. I’m in Florida this week, giving a live ultrasound presentation to a Jacksonville group who is doing their best to shrink the distance between Florida and Michigan so I can be there regularly to provide fetal biology education via live ultrasound presentations to school students. I sent this text to my 17-year old son on his first day of his senior year…a day I wasn’t there to witness🥲💕🙏

Union City HS feels like going home for me. While I attended a high school in a neighboring town, this high school is where my mom went to school and where my sister currently works and her children attend. On 4/20/26, Life On Display provided 5 live ultrasound presentations to almost 100 students and staff during biology, anatomy and life science classes with the help of two amazing moms who were able to give their entire day to the effort. Their babies were 8 weeks and 27 weeks and they did not disappoint!

This is officially the youngest baby we have put on display and the students and teachers alike were shocked at how beautiful life is at that age. You could even still see the yolk sac that is only a little smaller than an 8 week baby who measures about 1/2 inch long. The baby’s head, abdomen, arms and beating heart could be discerned thanks to the quality of imaging.

Just a reminder that ultrasound is safe but elective ultrasound needs to be cognizant of the delicacy of life at its earliest stages. Keeping each presentation of an 8 week fetus to less than 5 minutes is the prudent choice and makes sense for this type of presentation anyway since the baby does not move much. It’s enough to see the baby, see the flicker that is the heart beating and point out the baby’s surroundings, including uterine wall, amniotic fluid, yolk sac.
