Work+Shelter WORK+SHELTER is an eco-conscious production center in Delhi, India that pays women who are in need a fair wage.

Our goal is to support women in-need in India by holistically addressing their needs. Foundationally, our social enterprise provides them with fair paid work in an environment where they feel happy, healthy, inspired and most importantly supported. Our non-profit provides the opportunity to plan diversified activities such as awareness creation, capacity building, skill development, and sustainabl

The 2025 results are in: our organic cotton usage is UP 🙌, and conventional fabric is DOWN. 📉 Reaching 90% organic cotton is a huge milestone, but we’re already looking at how to improve in 2026:

GOTS-Certified Printing: Your designs now meet the same rigorous standards as our fabric, thanks to our new GOTS-certified print partner.

Shrinking the 6.8%: Working closely with our clients to swap conventional fabrics for sustainable alternatives where possible.

More Upcycling: Finding new ways to use "deadstock" and other materials.

In yesterday's newsletter we hinted at our incredible, long-standing collaboration with and today we're diving a little deeper into some of the beautiful products we've created together.

These gorgeous items: eyemasks, scrunchies, and fold up bags, are crafted from upcycled sari silk. If you know, you know. The vibrant colors and unique patterns of sari silk are stunning and each piece is one of a kind. And the sari is more than just a garment; it is a powerful symbol of Indian heritage and identity,

We love collaborating with artists whose designs tell a story, and the partnership with Shelly and Mary (the mother-daughter duo behind k studio) has been a perfect synergy. They are celebrated for their hand-drawn characters, geometric forms, and signature sense of humor. Art that translates beautifully into the textural depth of embroidery.

Together, we've created a series of exceptional embroidered textiles, including Half-moon zip pouches in BCI denim, as well as zip pouches, pillow covers, and sachets in linen.

Each piece is a fusion of k studio's unique storytelling and our craftsmanship: minimal but full of feeling, and artful but made to be used every day.

We’re all about collaboration that makes an impact. When Liz Mortenson of Laila Textiles reached out to us, it was the perfect match. her nature-inspired patterns and commitment to conscious design align so well with our mission at Work+Shelter.

Together, we created:
Cyanotype Flower Tea Towels – printed on durable 10 oz organic cotton duck.
Gingham Cotton Napkins – a hand-drawn classic on organic cotton poplin.
