🦪 From 2MM to 30MM+! 🌊

A HUGE thank you to our incredible Residents Forward Oyster Gardening volunteers who have shown up week after week to care for our oysters at Louie’s Dock and Morgan’s Dock.

What started as tiny 2MM oysters has grown to more than 30MM—and our volunteers have been there every step of the way, cleaning cages, checking conditions and carefully measuring their growth.

It takes a community to care for a bay, and we are so grateful for everyone who gets their hands wet and helps make this program possible. 💙

Thank you for showing up, week after week, for Manhasset Bay! A few weeks left sign up here to participate https://tinyurl.com/3hbb65ew.

SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT: KISS BEAUTY GROUP!

We are thrilled to recognize Kiss Beauty Group for sponsoring Residents Forward’s Oyster Garden at Louie's Dock this year!

Their generous support is helping us care for five thriving cages of oysters and create a meaningful, hands-on environmental experience for volunteers of all ages. Every other Saturday morning, multigenerational teams of volunteers come together to clean, measure, and monitor our oysters as they grow.

This is the impact of community sponsorship in action: connecting people to our waterways, inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards, and helping restore the health of Manhasset Bay.

We are especially grateful to Kiss Beauty Group for investing in this important work and helping Residents Forward turn environmental education into hands-on action.

And thank you to Councilwoman Mariann Dalimonte, who brought oyster gardening to Port Washington in 2024. We are proud to have been a partner from the beginning!

Thank you, Kiss Beauty Group, for helping our oysters—and our community—thrive!

Learning. Testing. Exploring Solutions. Building the Movement.

This summer, our LI Groundwater Rebalance 2050 Committee has been out in the field, learning from experts and exploring practical solutions that can help Long Island conserve and rebalance our precious groundwater.

At Clark Botanic Garden, we met with of North Hempstead - Government horticultural interns conducting experiments on rainwater vs. tap water, leaving the leaves, and native pollinator gardens. We saw firsthand how gardens irrigated with rainwater and supported by leaves at the base thrived, with more growth and less water.

With Seatuck Environmental Association, we dug into the barriers, opportunities and action steps for safely advancing treated wastewater reuse on Long Island.

At Sands Point Golf Club, we met with a Cornell Integrative Plant Science specialist and the golf course team to learn about water conservation strategies including soil moisture meters, water recycling, splash pad reuse and capturing runoff for irrigation.

Every conversation brings new ideas and new stakeholders to the table. And every lesson makes LI Groundwater Rebalance 2050 stronger.

What can YOU do?

Sign on today and help Long Island become a leader in water conservation so our communities can thrive in 2050 and beyond.

We are incredibly grateful to the team at The Peter & Jeri Dejana Foundation for stepping up as presenting sponsors of two of our signature community events!

Their generous support will help bring Art Walk 2026 to life on September 19th, and help make possible our 5th Youth Climate Summit—a free, student-centered experience for 100 local students—taking place at the Port Washington Public Library on Saturday, April 3, 2027 (with our student-led planning committee launching this September).

These events are designed to inspire creativity, connection, and environmental leadership—and thanks to partners like The Peter & Jeri Dejana Foundation, we’re able to offer them free of charge to our community.

Thank you for believing in this work and for helping us create meaningful opportunities for residents of all ages.

What an incredible night in Port Washington!

Organized by the wonderful Susan Berman of the Sid Jacobson JCC Center For Community Engagement, this free community potluck brought people together along one continuous table to share food, conversation, and connection. It was a truly special and visible moment of welcome for our community—and Residents Forward was proud to be part of it.

A big thank you to the entire Longest Table planning committee, and to our own Team Captains Andrea Day and Cynthia Litman for creating such a beautiful and inviting table!

We’re also grateful to UJA-Federation of New York for generously funding this event, and to Councilwoman Mariann Dalimonte for playing a key role on the event planning committee. Congratulations to everyone involved on a spectacular evening.

Here’s to more moments like this that bring our community together.
