This Saturday is International Day of Charity, a day that celebrates the power we all have to make a difference. ❤️

Here in Port Washington, that spirit is alive every day. Neighbors give their time, local businesses step up, volunteers lend a hand, and our community comes together to support the organizations doing important work right here at home.

As International Day of Charity approaches, consider one way you can make an impact: donate to a cause you care about, volunteer your time, start a fundraiser, attend a local event, or simply help spread the word about an organization making a difference.

At the Community Chest of Port Washington, we’re proud to bring people, businesses, and local nonprofits together to help strengthen the community we all call home. 💙

However you choose to give back, every act of support matters.

For young people, being part of a team can mean so much more than learning a sport. ⚽❤️

It’s a place to build confidence, make friends, learn teamwork, and feel like you belong.

That’s why the Community Chest of Port Washington is proud to support the Port Washington Soccer Club, including needs-based scholarships for local children and teens.

These scholarships help remove financial barriers so more young people in our community have the opportunity to get on the field, be part of a team, and experience everything that comes with it.

Because when we give our kids opportunities to play, grow, and belong, our entire community grows stronger.

Did you know one of Long Island’s leading human service organizations has roots right here in Port Washington?

EAC Network began in 1969, when four women came together to help students with special needs in Port Washington.

More than five decades later, that local beginning has grown into an organization providing 100+ programs throughout Long Island and New York City.

It's a remarkable piece of Port Washington history — and a reminder that meaningful community work can start small and grow into something that touches thousands of lives.

The Community Chest is proud to support organizations like EAC Network that continue to make a difference in our community.

Were you surprised to learn that EAC Network's story began right here in Port Washington?

What can one person do?

A whole lot. ❤️

One volunteer who gives their time.
One donor who chooses to give back.
One neighbor who lends a helping hand.
One person who decides to show up for their community.

Every act of generosity creates a ripple. And when those individual acts come together, those ripples become something much bigger: real support for the people and organizations that make Port Washington such a special place to call home.

That’s the heart of Community Chest of Port Washington.

For more than 75 years, our community has shown what’s possible when people come together to care for one another.

It starts with one.
It grows with all of us. ❤️

How will you be the ONE to make a difference?

A little community kindness deserves a gold star. 🌟

Strong communities aren’t built through one big action. They’re built through all the little things people do for one another every day.

Maybe you attended a community event this month, supported a local business, shared some extra produce from your garden, volunteered with a local nonprofit, checked in on a neighbor, or shared a skill or resource with someone who needed it.

Each of those actions helps strengthen the connections that make Port Washington such a special place to live.

So, if you checked something off our Community Kindness Challenge this month, consider this your official gold star! 🌟

And if you haven’t yet, August isn’t over. There’s still time to do something small that makes a difference.

What’s your gold-star-worthy act of kindness this month? Share it with us in the comments!

Rich in opportunities.
Rich in connection.
Rich in community.

At Community Chest of Port Washington, we’re proud to be part of what makes our town rich in life.

There’s a lot that goes into making a community strong, and our local nonprofits are an essential part of it.

Every day, organizations throughout our community are providing resources and services, creating opportunities, supporting families, caring for our neighbors, and helping people when they need it most.

Community Chest of Port Washington is proud to support and work alongside these organizations as they turn purpose into community impact.

To our nonprofit partners: thank you for the work you do every day. We’re proud to stand alongside you. ❤️

Together, we can do so much more.

What inspires someone to volunteer?

For Michelle Bazzini, it comes down to compassion and believing in an organization’s mission.

Michelle has been volunteering with Community Chest of Port Washington since 2019. Her dedication reflects what so many of our volunteers bring to CCPW: a desire to help their neighbors and strengthen the community we all share.

Our volunteers are an essential part of what we do. From supporting events and activities to helping us connect with the people and organizations we serve, their time and dedication help make our work possible.

If you’ve been thinking about getting involved, we’d love to have you join us.

What happens when people are given the opportunity to show what they can do?

They show us. 💙

Through meaningful employment, autistic adults are building skills, contributing to their community, earning a paycheck, and growing their independence.

Organizations like The Nicholas Center and Spectrum Designs Foundation show up to create those opportunities—and provide the training, support, and workplace environment that help participants succeed.

Community Chest is proud to support organizations working to make Port Washington a more inclusive community where everyone has the opportunity to contribute and thrive.

Real jobs. Real skills. Real impact.
