The CHCA is sponsoring an online petition urging PRT to keep bus service on main roads in Penn Hills. This includes maintaining service on our major roads like Frankstown Rd, and keeping buses off of narrow residential roads that weren't built to support regular heavy vehicle traffic. Please consider signing so we can present this petition once the proposed bus line refresh is opened for public comment.

"The new bus routes proposed by Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) significantly impact safety and access to public transit in Penn Hills. The proposed N72 route cuts through narrow residential streets causing safety concerns and heavy wear to roads not intended to support heavy axle vehicles. Even school buses are barred from using these roads and the PRT should acknowledge the limitations in their planning. The availability of state-maintained roadways in the community, already used by current bus routes, serve the community well and we ask PRT to maintain service on major roads in our town such as Saltsburg Rd and Frankstown Rd."

Small update on buses. They've made changes. We don't know what they are yet. There will be another opportunity for public feedback when the updated plan is announced. Thank you everyone who provided feedback to PRT on the previous plan.

"If the board approves public hearings on the proposal, that would open a window for public comment from Aug. 17 to Sept. 30. There would be a virtual information session on Aug. 18 followed by public hearings on Aug. 25 and Sept. 10."

Nearly four years after Pittsburgh Regional Transit began revising its bus routes, the agency has a final plan ready for public hearings and board approval.

As listed in the spring newsletter’s event calendar, our next board meeting is Tuesday 7/14 7pm at the pavilion in the park. Neighbors and members are welcome to attend and share ideas and feedback. We will discuss our events, share committee reports, and share updates on Crescent Hills projects, like where we’re at with the state grant. We also hope to fill multiple vacancies on the board. Thank you.
