Training Together. Responding Together. Serving Together.

Last evening, members of Evergreen Volunteer Fire Company 246 and Keating FireCompany 252 partnered together for driver training and emergency vehicle operations on our apparatus.

Regular, consistent driver training is an important part of maintaining operational readiness. It helps ensure our members are proficient in the safe operation of our engines, familiar with our equipment, and prepared to meet township standards when responding to emergencies.

When an emergency call comes in, safety and seconds count.

Training like this allows our firefighters and drivers to continually build confidence, sharpen their skills, and work together so we can operate safely and effectively when our community needs us most.

We’re proud to see Evergreen 246 and Keating 252 continuing to train together, learn from one another, and strengthen our emergency response capabilities. We’re looking forward to more opportunities to train together with all Ross Township Fire & Emergency Services companies!

Preparedness starts long before the alarm sounds.

Welcome to the Ross Township Department of Fire & Emergency Services!

Ross Township’s fire service is entering an important new chapter, and this page will be one of the primary ways we keep our community informed along the way.

The Department of Fire & Emergency Services was established to provide township-wide leadership and coordination while working alongside Ross Township’s eight fire companies and fire police organization. As we evaluate our current system and plan for the future, our focus is simple: providing the strongest, safest, and most sustainable fire and emergency services possible for the people of Ross Township.

We want this page to be a resource for our entire community.

Here, you can expect to see:

🔥 Public education and fire prevention: practical information that can help keep you, your family, and your property safe
🚨 Emergency preparedness: information to help residents and businesses prepare before an emergency occurs
🚒 Your fire service at work: training, equipment, operations, and the people serving Ross Township
🏘️ Understanding our fire service: how fire protection works across the Township and the challenges facing the modern fire service
🔄 Updates on the future of fire protection in Ross Township: including the work underway to strengthen coordination, staffing, response capabilities, facilities, apparatus, and the overall delivery of fire and emergency services
📢 Community information: events, programs, important notices, and opportunities to become involved

There is a great deal of history behind Ross Township’s fire companies, and there is also a tremendous opportunity ahead of us. As this process moves forward, we believe the community deserves to understand both.

We intend to communicate openly, explain the work being done, recognize the people and organizations who have built our fire service, and keep residents informed as we build its future together.

Follow the page, share it with your neighbors, and stay connected as we move Ross Township's fire service forward. You can also learn more as we establish an online presence: https://ross.pa.us/505/Fire-Emergency-Services

For emergencies, always call 911. Facebook is not monitored for emergency reporting.

OPEN HOUSES AREN’T JUST FOR KIDS — AND OUR DOORS AREN’T JUST OPEN FOR ONE DAY!

While our Evergreen Volunteer Fire Company Open House this Sunday, October 4, is a great opportunity for families and community members to visit, learn about fire safety and meet our members, we also want our community to know something important:

Our doors are always open to those who are interested in answering the call.

At Evergreen, we volunteer our time to help protect life, property and the environment by responding when our community needs us. 🚒🧯

And you don’t have to be a firefighter to be part of the team. There are many ways to contribute, whether you’re interested in emergency response, fireground support, operations, fundraising, administration or helping our company serve the community.

Ross Township Fire and Emergency Services is proud to partner with the IAFC - International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) through the Hustle Worth Having campaign to help welcome and encourage those who are willing to answer the call.

🤝 Interested in volunteering? Come talk to us!

Stop by our Open House this Sunday to meet members of Evergreen Volunteer Fire Company, ask questions and learn more about what it means to volunteer with us — or with any of the fire companies serving Ross Township.

📅 Sunday, October 4
⏰ 1–4 PM
📍 Evergreen Volunteer Fire Company
2127 Babcock Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15209

And remember — you don’t have to wait for Open House.

If you see our doors open, stop by and say hello. Or send us a DM right here on Facebook and we’ll be happy to tell you more about volunteering and how you can get involved.

🚨 Your community needs people willing to answer the call. Are you ready to find out how you can help?
