A dog’s story doesn’t begin the day they find their forever home. But that day can change everything. ❤️

October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, a reminder of the countless dogs waiting for someone to give them a safe place to land, a family to love and the care they deserve.

For some adopted dogs, that journey may also come with unexpected medical needs. Whether they’ve been part of the family for ten years or ten days, every dog deserves the opportunity to receive the care that can improve their quality of life.

At For the Love of Chin, we’re proud to help eligible dog owners facing the financial challenges that can come with specialty and integrative veterinary care.

🐾 National Animal Safety & Protection Month

Keeping our dogs safe isn’t just about avoiding obvious dangers. It’s also about noticing when something isn’t right - and knowing when it’s time to ask for help.

A change in appetite. Trouble breathing. Sudden limping. Unusual behavior. A lump that wasn’t there before. Sometimes the signs are subtle, but you know your dog better than anyone.

This National Animal Safety & Protection Month, we encourage every dog owner to trust their instincts, ask questions and seek veterinary care when something feels off.

And when that care becomes more specialized - and more expensive - For the Love of Chin is here to help eligible families access the care their dogs need. 💜🐾

Because protecting the dogs we love also means advocating for their health.

💜🐾 Meet Daisy! 💜🐾

Sweet Daisy is 13 years old, and when she suddenly started hiding under the bed, her family knew something wasn’t right.

She was still eating and showing no other obvious signs of illness, but hiding was completely out of character for this normally happy, outgoing girl. Thankfully, her family acted quickly. Daisy’s veterinarian discovered infected teeth that are causing her significant discomfort and need to be surgically removed.

Dogs can be incredibly good at hiding dental pain, and untreated dental disease can affect much more than their mouths. Getting these bad teeth out now is important so Daisy can feel good again and get back to being her happy little self. ❤️

For the Love of Chin is honored to help Daisy get the veterinary care she needs and deserves.

🐾 October is National Pet Wellness Month!

When we think about keeping our dogs healthy, annual checkups and vaccinations may come to mind first—but wellness goes far beyond the basics.

It’s paying attention to changes in appetite, energy, mobility, bathroom habits and behavior. It’s keeping up with dental care. And it’s asking questions when something just doesn’t seem like your dog.

Sometimes those questions lead to additional testing or specialty care—and catching a problem earlier can make a meaningful difference.

💜🐾Meet Nena

The Chin Care Relief Fund will be helping this gorgeous girl get the specialty care she needs.

Nena has lymphoma that’s relapsed. She also has a mass on her lip that is undergoing a biopsy. Nena is an amazing, smart, loving, friendly and loyal doggie. She isn't just a "dog" to her family - she IS family!

At age 5, Nena was diagnosed with lymphoma. This brave and strong pocket bully went through chemo treatments like a trooper and did have success. But her lymphoma came back and chemo needs to be resumed.

Every dog we help has a different story and a different need, but the goal is always the same: helping dogs get the veterinary care that can give them a healthier, more comfortable life.

🎉9-23 is a special day here at "Chin Central". 💜🐾Our "Queen" (aka Sydney) celebrates her 11th birthday and the "Twins" (aka Shazza & Ella) were adopted 3 years ago. They are a huge part of our inspiration for the mission of For the Love of Chin. Without our Chin and all they've taught us through their medical challenges, For the Love of Chin wouldn't exist. But we can't sustain without YOUR HELP! Please, we are asking for some BIG help today - we are trying to support multiple dogs with specialty care needs. Please help us try to raise $923!

❤️ Sometimes taking great care of your dog means hearing, “We’d like you to see a specialist.”

An unexpected diagnosis, advanced imaging, surgery or another specialized treatment can be overwhelming - and the cost can be, too.

The Chin Care Relief Fund helps eligible dog owners access specialty and integrative veterinary care by providing financial assistance directly to veterinary providers.

Our mission is simple: help make sure financial hardship isn't what stands between a dog and the care they need. 💜🐾

🐾 September 19 is Responsible Dog Ownership Day!

Being a responsible dog owner is about more than food, walks and belly rubs. ❤️ It also means being an advocate for their health throughout every stage of life.

That can look like keeping up with routine veterinary visits, noticing changes in behavior or health, asking questions when something doesn’t seem right, staying on top of preventive care and being prepared when unexpected medical needs arise.

And sometimes, even the most responsible and loving dog owners need a little help.

That’s why the Chin Care Relief Fund exists - to help responsible dog owners access specialty and integrative veterinary care when financial hardship might otherwise stand in the way.

🦷🐶 Is your dog trying to tell you something?

Bad breath, pawing at or rubbing their face on the floor/furniture, red or bleeding gums, difficulty chewing, loose teeth, reluctance to play or even discharge from the eyes/nose can all be reasons to talk with your veterinarian about your pup’s DENTAL HEALTH.

Dental problems aren't always obvious. Regular veterinary exams can help identify issues before they become more painful or complicated.

Be sure to add this to your wellness checklist: take a peek at those pearly whites and schedule a dental checkup with your vet! 💜🐾

🐾💜 Meet Rocco.

This handsome Boston Terrier is one of the newest dogs the Chin Care Relief Fund will be helping!

Rocco has Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome (BOAS), a condition common in Boston Terriers and other flat-faced breeds. His narrowed nostrils make it harder for him to pull air through his nose, forcing his respiratory system to work much harder just to breathe.

For Rocco, treating his stenotic nares (narrowed nostrils) can make a meaningful difference in his breathing, comfort and overall quality of life - and that’s where we’re stepping in.

Every dog we help has a different story and a different need, but the goal is always the same: helping dogs get the veterinary care that can give them a healthier, more comfortable life.
