Lili, Janielle, and Jamie had a blast leading consent workshops for every class at Vare-Washington School in South Philly, Kindergarten through 8th grade!

For the younger groups we read The Great Big Hug - stories are really helpful to young folks when learning new concepts.

The second photo is of a readaloud practice session on Isy's porch to learn some tips and tricks to make the book as engaging and interactive as possible.

[id: Slide 1 - An outside selfie of Lili, our facilitator, holding up a book, The Great Big Hug, in front of the Vare-Washington Elementary School sign. Slide 2 - A photo of Isy, our Executive Director, holding up The Great Big Hug while sitting outside. The book is open and shows two images of Elephant and Meerkat, two characters in the book.]

The universe smiled on consent culture and gave us perfect weather for ConsentFest. The sun was shining, the pops were delicious, the dogs were excited, the babies were plentiful, the music was transcendent, the drag was genderful, the dancing was hype, the orgs were impressive, and the community came out!

We are building a consent culture and we will not be stopped!

There is a green border around the photo. Slide 2 - A selfie of three people smiling at the camera while sitting and standing at a table with books. One person is holding a popsicle. A group of high school students from the Academy at Palumbo invited YES! to talk with them about our approach to seggs ed. During the visit, Lili lead a brainstorming session where students dreamed about all of the different things they wished had been part of their seggs ed curriculum. Take a look at what they came up with!

[id: A photo of a whiteboard with black writing that says the words “Ideal S*x Ed Class: porn/sex addiction, resources for people who experience sexual assault, r**e kit education, experts not just gym teachers, body literacy/pain, diverse curriculum, puberty, birth control clinics + side effects”]

On May 12, 2026, the condition we’ve known as PCOS was renamed to PMOS to more accurately reflect its effects on the body. A paper published by The Lancet goes into the details of this name change and the benefits we can expect to see due to it. These changes have also been documented by the Endocrine Society. Dr. Anuja Dorkas, the director of Penn PCOS (soon to be renamed to reflect this name change) has commented on the benefits of this situation as well.

[id: At the top-center of a single white slide on a light blue banner, are the words “Polycystic O***y Syndrome”. Below this is a black arrow pointing down to the words “Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome” to reflect the recent name change from PCOS to PMOS. Under this banner, in blue bold letters are the words “How the rename of this condition benefits individuals:”. Below this text are centered bullet points in black text, listing these benefits. They are as followed; quicker and more accurate diagnoses (e.g., no longer based on the presence of ovarian cysts), better treatment plans, better understanding of the effects, a decrease in stigma, and possible better research funding and policies. Underneath the bullet points, in bold black letters, is the sentence “This change recognizes that PMOS affects not just the ovaries; but hormones, metabolism, ovulation, fertility and long-term health as well.” At the bottom corner of the slide is a graphic of a circle of rainbow individuals holding hands.]

At YES!, we don’t just teach about the importance of centering pleasure, we model it! At the NSEC Conference in Baltimore in February, our facilitator team tried five different delicious ice cream flavors from Jamie’s favorite ice cream spot and enjoyed being together during our free time!

What's your favorite ice cream flavor?

Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia, and Transphobia; a global moment of solidarity and collective action for LGBTQIA+ communities. This day has been observed every year on May 17th since 2005, celebrating the 1990 decision by the World Health Organization to remove homosexuality from its International Classification of Diseases. Each year on this day, individuals, organizations and governments are brought together to raise awareness of the issues LGBTQIA+ people are facing today and to advocate for laws and policies needed to protect their rights. IDAHOBIT aims to connect local action with global solidarity.

We still have a long way to go! You can get involved by sharing information regarding IDAHOBIT or donating to LGBTQIA+ and partner organizations that provide legal aid, advocacy, and support services for communities facing oppression.

Visit: https://may17.org/idahobit/ for more info.

[id: On a single slide, there is an orange background. Centered at the top of the slide is a dark purple banner with the words, “International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia, and Transphobia”. Directly underneath this is the words, “At the heart of democracy”, the 2026 theme of IDAHOBIT. In the middle of the slide there is an image on a white background. The image contains a red triangle with a black exclamation point in the center. Underneath the triangle, in bold red letters, is ‘IDAHOBIT’. The word is underlined, and underneath it is the description of IADAHOBIT: “A Worldwide Celebration of S*xual and Gender Diversities”. Finally amongst the white background, is the date May 17 in white letters inside a small red banner. At the bottom of the page, the theme of IDAHOBIT 2026 is described: “The 2026 IDAHOBIT theme serves as a powerful reminder that the soil of truly democratic societies must be rich in meaningful equity and justice for all, for the flourishing of the entire community”.]

Hi, my name is Cheyenne Holmes and I am beginning my journey as a volunteer intern for YES! this spring. I will be focusing on the social media side of things during this role, which is an area I have been wanting to gain more experience in. In 2024, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychological and Social Sciences and have been exploring different avenues to apply this knowledge since. I have a passion for creativity and helping others, directly and indirectly, which is why I felt YES! was a great fit for me. I’m so grateful to receive this opportunity to learn and grow with an organization that aligns with my values. Outside of here, you can find me as an admin for Philly Flowmies, a group hosting community events centered around flow-arts and self-expression without judgement. Feel free to check us out, we’re always looking for new friends to join this inclusive space!

[id: A single slide with a light blue background and an orange centered layout. At the top-middle of the slide, there is a header in bold black text that reads, “Introducing Our New Intern!” In the center of the orange layout is a photo of Cheyenne Holmes, who is a white woman with curly brown hair and brown eyes. Under the orange layout is the name “Cheyenne Holmes” in bold, centered, black text with the pronouns, “She/Her” directly underneath, in smaller text.]

May is Jewish American Heritage Month! Every May, people from across the US celebrate Jewish American history and culture.

We recognize the importance of standing against antisemitism and supporting Jewish communities year-round. We also stand against all forms of violence, oppression, and dehumanization, and we believe all people deserve safety and human rights.

[id: a pale orange slide with flowers and stars of David along the top and bottom. Blue text reads, "Happy Jewish American Heritage Month! ."]
