🪟 Their journey spans continents and shouldn't end with a window strike.
Over the past several decades, tens of thousands of bird-window collisions have been documented at just a handful of Chicago buildings. In 2023, a single night at McCormick Place resulted in the deaths of roughly 1,000 birds, highlighting the urgent need for action.
📉 After collision deterrents were installed at McCormick Place, early data showed bird collisions dropped by more than 90%. Bird-friendly buildings work!
Chicago has the opportunity to become a national leader in bird conservation by adopting mandatory bird-friendly building standards. If you live or work in Chicago, please contact your Alderperson and urge them to co-sponsor the bird-friendly building amendment led by Alders Maria Hadden, Brian Hopkins, and Ruth Cruz.
