There’s a lot of noise online about medically necessary gender-affirming care but not enough facts. Fellowship attorney Victoria Peña-Parr addresses the misinformation and disinformation fueling confusion and fear, and explains what’s really at stake for trans communities.

Gender-affirming care is personalized medical care that supports a person’s health and well-being. It looks different for everyone and is rooted in the same principles that guide all healthcare: meeting patients where they are and providing care with respect and compassion.

It’s finally 5/14 Due Process Day! And honestly, the real question is: Who doesn’t love the 5th Amendment? 🤔❤️

05/14/2026

What is due process, really?
We hit the streets to ask people one simple question. Some knew a lot about why this constitutional right matters. Others only knew a little—no worries, we gave the answer because due process impacts all of us.

Tomorrow, we’re making “5/14 Due Process Day” official by starting conversations, uplifting voices, and reminding people that justice should never depend on power, status, or circumstance.

Every Pennsylvania voter has the right to be notified if their mail-in ballot is rejected for a mistake, because there are opportunities to ensure their vote still counts.

A new report from Common Cause Pennsylvania & ACLU of Pennsylvania shows that each PA county gives notice differently. It also explains which policies are better for voters. Mail voting has improved greatly, but there are BEST practices counties can adopt so that no one loses their vote over a small error. Read the report and use it to advocate for pro-voter notice and cure policies in your county: aclupa.org/noticeandcure.

Mail-in voting in Pennsylvania has increased by almost 23% in the last four years, so counties have a responsibility to make sure all eligible votes are being counted. This starts by following the PA Supreme Court ruling and letting voters know the status of their mail ballots. If voters can’t fix mistakes or use a provisional ballot, they lose their voice. Strong voter-friendly notice-and-cure practices help protect everyone’s right to vote.

Expanding notice-and-cure policies in more counties makes voting rights stronger in Pennsylvania. Now, 60 out of 67 counties let voters know if there is a mistake on their mail-in ballots. This change happened because of community advocates and organizations who believe every vote should count, and the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania ruling that voters have a due process right to receive notice about mail-in ballot mistakes. For the seven counties not giving notice - you’re on notice. It’s time to follow the law.

Let’s be real, we’re all human!

We make mistakes! And a small mistake shouldn’t cost you your voice. That’s why knowing your rights and your options on Election Day matters.

Even if your county doesn’t allow mail ballot curing (the opportunity to fix small errors on your ballot before Election Day), you can still cast a provisional ballot as a safety net to protect your vote.

P.S. Thanks, PA Supreme Court, for ruling on the side of voters. 🫶

Rapid fire: Voting rights edition. If you can get all 5, you’re in good shape this election season.

(P.S. Your right to have your vote count doesn’t disappear because of a mistake.
Counties must notify you.) Learn more about notice + cure at our link in bio.
