"Ovarian cancer changed my life — but it didn’t break my spirit. Staying active has been a source of strength and healing for me, and now I’m using that energy to give back. I will be completing the 17,000-foot uphill trek through the mountains of Peru, ending in Machu Picchu, in honor of those we've lost, those still fighting, and those who survived like me.

NOCC TEAM TEAL is just weeks away from tackling the AUSANGATE Trek in Peru!!

Meet the team - Ashley M of Pittsburgh

Her why....
" I found this organization after my sweet mom was diagnosed with late-stage ovarian cancer. After undergoing chemo and major surgery and then being in remission for a little over a year, she unfortunately relapsed and passed away. It's an unbearable truth knowing that my mom is no longer with me. She has always been and will always be my favorite person.

My family is certainly not the only one touched by this disease. Raising money to support this mission will help improve the lives of countless women, families, and communities touched by ovarian cancer — and I need your help.

While this effort — both the fundraising and the trek itself — is a challenge, it's nothing compared to the challenges that ovarian cancer patients, caregivers, and loved ones face every day. We need to do more so that one day, we will find a cure.

"This challenge is important for many reasons. I have a deep appreciation for the spirit and camaraderie that TEAM TEAL brings to my life as an ovarian cancer survivor. It is a privilege and supreme challenge to take an adventure like this. Climbing a mountain takes tenacity and courage just like fighting to regain your health when you have a cancer diagnosis. I hope that by taking the challenge, it inspires others to find hope in the darkness and difficulties that cancer brings. To help others see that there is life after cancer and to have faith that there is a community that supports them".

"In 2010, I was diagnosed with GCT (Granulosa Cell Tumor). Despite four recurrences still going strong and taking my journey to new heights! I joined NOCC TEAM TEAL in the NYC, Berlin, and Boston Marathons- and now, I am taking my journey to new heights- literally! This July 2026, I will be taking on the Ausangate Trek in Peru to continue to raise awareness and funding for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. My support will help improve the lives of women, families, and communities impacted by ovarian cancer. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to support this journey.
