Happy Speech Language Pathologists Day to our incredible volunteer speech pathologists and a special shout out to Monica Hanson and Emily McRae for their dedicated care to LEAP patients around the world! Speech pathologists are an important part of comprehensive care for children with cleft lip and palate as these conditions can affect their speech and ability to eat and drink. Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and commitment in caring for your patients!

LEAP Global Missions has a medical team on the way to Ukraine! Craniofacial Orthodontist Dr. Cheryl Anderson-Cermin, Pediatric Plastic Surgeon Dr. Mark Hnatiuk, and Oral/Maxillofacial Surgeon Dr. John Sands will be working with their medical counterparts at Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital in Lviv, Ukraine.

They will be teaching and working alongside their surgeons on some very complex medical cases, all with the idea of sharing their knowledge and expertise with these Ukrainian specialists. They will also present at a medical conference on the treatment and management of patients born with cleft lip and palate, which is sponsored by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

Christian Medical Association of Ukraine and Ed's Friends are partnering with LEAP Global Missions to help make this mission possible. Happy National Nurses Week to all of our wonderful nurse volunteers! National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6 and ends on Florence Nightingale’s birthday on May 12. Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and dedication in caring for your patients. Stay tuned as we highlight a few of our nurse volunteers throughout the week!

After a busy weekend, our Belize team has returned from Orange Walk, Belize. The team evaluated over 150 patients and worked together to provide free eye surgeries, Mohs skin cancer diagnosis and treatment, and dental care. Thank you to our volunteers and our partners, Northern Regional Hospital and the Rotary Club of Orange Walk, for making this possible and your continued support!

Our Mexico team returned from Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo earlier this week! The team, led by Dr. Alejandra Garcia de Mitchell, provided free ear reconstruction surgeries for 18 children with microtia, including a graduating class of 4 children who completed their final reconstruction and received their LEAP t-shirt. We are grateful for the commitment and care from our volunteers. Thank you to our longtime partner Xochitl Palacios and our hosts Clinica Cristo Medico and Club Rotario Ixtapa for your continued support!
