German Shepherd Search Dogs Search and Rescue K9s & Handlers responding to law enforcement calls in Pierce County & Washington State. See our website for more information.

All direct donations are tax deductible under 501(c)(3). Anyone participating in Search and Rescue knows the importance of the right equipment for the job. For members of German Shepherd Search Dogs of Washington State (GSSD) the right equipment includes a four-footed partner. Our canine friends bring a different level of skills and abilities to the search, whether it's for lost or missing persons

, deceased subjects, or evidence. The purpose of German Shepherd Search Dogs is to provide search and rescue trained K9 & Handler Teams 24/7. To ensure a competent and capable service, GSSD provides continuous training and education for members and their dogs. GSSD is a free, volunteer-based public service available at the request of any official agency. We do not handle private requests. Registration is NOW OPEN for the 2026 Pacific Northwest Search & Rescue Conference!

We are excited to officially welcome attendees from across the Pacific Northwest and beyond to join us October 30 – November 1, 2026 at the beautiful Cascade Camp & Conference Center in Yelm, Washington!

This year’s conference will bring together:
-Search & Rescue Volunteers
-Law Enforcement
-Firefighters
-Medical Providers
-Emergency Workers
-Outdoor Leaders
-Technical Rescue Personnel
…and many more from across the SAR community.

Attendees can expect:
✅ Hands-on and classroom-based training
✅ Expert instructors from around the region
✅ Networking with SAR professionals and volunteers
✅ Vendor expo and equipment demonstrations
✅ Lodging and meals included with conference registration
✅ Specialized courses covering search management, technical rescue, medical topics, search planning, field operations, leadership development, and more

Lodging is summer camp style with shared sleeping areas assigned by unit/team. Limited RV and tent camping spots are also available. There are passes available without lodging as well for our more local folks.

Several of our members and their K9s attended NAS Whidbey Island helicopter training set up by Mason County Search & Rescue . It was a great opportunity to cross-train with Mason SAR and members from Pierce County Explorer Search and Rescue, Pierce County 4x4 Search & Rescue and Thurston Co. WA Explorer Search and Rescue.
