☀️🐾 PLEASE READ THIS FRIENDLY REMINDER — IT COULD SAVE A DOG’S LIFE 🐾☀️
Many people don’t realize how quickly a warm day can become dangerous for a dog.
A temperature that feels comfortable to us can become deadly for them.
🌡️ 73°F outside can feel much hotter in direct sunlight.
🌡️ Pavement, concrete, decks, and artificial turf can become hot enough to burn paws.
🌡️ Dogs cannot cool themselves the way humans do. They rely primarily on panting, which means overheating can happen much faster than many people realize.
Even healthy dogs can suffer from:
❌ Heat exhaustion
❌ Heat stroke
❌ Organ damage
❌ Death
🚨 Signs of overheating include:
⚠️ These aren’t early warning signs—they’re signs your dog may already be struggling. Don’t wait for symptoms before offering water, shade, and relief from the heat.
🚨 Excessive panting
🚨 Drooling
🚨 Bright red gums
🚨 Lethargy or weakness
🚨 Vomiting
🚨 Stumbling or collapse
If your dog spends time outside:
✅ Provide constant access to fresh water
✅ Make sure there is adequate shade throughout the day (remember, shade moves)
✅ Limit outdoor time during the hottest parts of the day
✅ Never assume your dog is “fine because they like being outside”
✅ Bring them inside when temperatures begin to rise
The hardest part about heat-related emergencies is that they are often preventable.
A dog doesn’t get to choose whether they stay outside.
We choose for them.
🐾 And if you see something, say something.
Too often people assume someone else will make the call, knock on the door, or report the situation. Please don’t be that person.
Being a good human sometimes means speaking up for those who don’t have a voice.
If you see a dog that appears to be suffering in the heat, left without water, left without shade, or in any situation that concerns you, contact your local Animal Control, Animal Services, Humane Society, or law enforcement agency.
Your call could save a life.
You don’t have to be an expert. You just have to care enough to act.

You never know who might see it today and realize their dog needs help.
One share could be the reason a dog is brought inside before it’s too late.
Because every dog deserves safety, comfort, and someone willing to speak up for them.
