The Overmountain Ken Block Flat Out 43VER Award goes to Thomas Letchworth and Lucas Mozes.

Their first rally together hit a bent control arm with no replacement parts available. With a hammer and a lot of grit, they bent it back to close enough and finished the rally, then celebrated on the podium with shoe ch*****ne, Ken style. 🍾🤘(swipe to the end for the clip)

The Ken Block Memorial Trophy. All the way from New Zealand. 🔥

The Rally of Whangarei created their own award in Ken’s honor: Given to the driver who adds more to an event than what they take from it. That’s about as Ken Block as it gets.

This year’s recipient is Simon Bell. An organizer, volunteer, and Chairman of the Rally of Whangarei for years, all unpaid, all out of pure passion for the sport. This year he pulled his old Subaru Legacy out to compete for the first time since taking the chair role. His gearbox failed on Sunday, and he still got ch*****ne poured down his neck on the ramp.

That’s the right person for this award. Congratulations Simon. 🤘🔥

LSPR week. The Block family is heading back to the Upper Peninsula.

Ken won this rally three times. In 2006, he and co-driver Alex Gelsomino took the win in their Subaru Impreza WRX STI. They won again in 2008, a victory that lifted Ken to second in the Rally America championship. In 2021, he swept all 15 stages and won by 9m35.4s.

Then there’s 2013. Ken came into the final round needing a win to take the championship. On one of the last stages, a missing two-letter word in the pace notes, “in,” let him run slightly wide on a corner that looked safe. The rear wheel clipped a clump of dirt, and the Fiesta went end over end. Alex stopped counting rolls at five. Ken walked away unhurt and Alex had a mild concussion, and Ken’s first instinct was to try to restart the car.

This weekend, the family carries all of it back to the forest. Follow along with 43i.

First Annual 43i Block Party.

Saturday we loaded up Ken’s Mustang, the Subie 2, Lia’s Audi Quattro, and the giveaway GR Corolla and brought them all out together for the first time. The turnout blew us away.
