Since 1988, the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition (OVAC) has been growing and developing Oklahoma's visual arts community through education, promotion, connection, and funding. OVAC enriches communities by encouraging individual artists’ gifts and abilities, believing that artists contribute to vibrant community lives with positive changes in neighborhoods, public spaces, economies and education. Eac

h year, OVAC serves more than 1,700 artists directly through professional development and business training, opportunities to exhibit their work and connect with new audiences, and targeted funding to encourage professional excellence and public ventures. 🌟 OVAC MEMBER NEWS - 4th Friday Film: Bill Cunningham New York
"We all get dressed for Bill," says Vogue editor Anna Wintour. The Bill in question is 80-year-old New York Times photographer Bill Cunningham. For decades, this Schwinn-riding cultural anthropologist obsessively and inventively chronicled fashion trends and high society charity events for the Times Style section in his columns "On the Street" and "Evening Hours."

Documenting uptown fixtures like Wintour, Tom Wolfe, Brooke Astor, and David Rockefeller alongside downtown eccentrics and everyone in between, Cunningham's enormous body of work is more reliable than any catwalk as an expression of time, place, and individual flair. Bill Cunningham New York is a delicate, funny, and often poignant portrait of a dedicated artist whose only wealth is his own humanity and unassuming grace.

Directed by Richard Press, the film was nominated for Best Documentary at the 2012 Film Independent Spirit Awards.

The screening is free and open to the public. A discussion will follow.

About 4th Friday Films

4th Friday Films is a film screening series in partnership with Pioneer Library System and Uncanny Art House to bring educational screenings and films to downtown Norman, Oklahoma. The films we screen are based on the current exhibition and are free and open to the public with a discussion following each showing.

🌟 OVAC MEMBER NEWS - 16mm Direct Animation Workshop

This hands-on workshop introduces participants to the art and history of direct animation, working directly with 16mm motion picture film and projection. Over four sessions, participants will explore this unique cinematic language by painting, scratching, masking, and physically manipulating 16mm leader and found footage to create your own animated film. Each participant will receive over 100 feet of film to work on, an HD digital scan of their finished project, and the skills needed to continue their filmmaking practice.

Meet Committee Members Hannah Tubbs and Erick Perry !

Hannah is an international visual artist and music producer pursuing her B.B.A. in Marketing and Graphic Design at the University of Central Oklahoma. Her multi-disciplinary practice spans traditional painting, textile art, and digital illustration. Alongside her visual work, she creates experimental electronic music, leveraging specialized coursework and studio cultivation at the Academy of Contemporary Music (AMC@UCO) to develop unique audial works.

Erick is a marketing professional and visual artist, living and working in Oklahoma City. He has a decade's experience producing content and managing projects, professionally. As an artist, Perry uses photography, video, and printmaking to present personal narratives.

✨Learn about the folks helping behind the scenes for this year's ✨

Meet Committee Members Zach Hunter and C.G. Hall!

Zach is an Oklahoma native who serves as Brand Experience Lead for William & Lauren, where he creates elevated client experiences and manages event activations nationwide. A Leadership OKC LOYAL Class XIX alumnus, Zach is passionate about community engagement, relationship building, and supporting Oklahoma’s creative community. He previously served on OVAC’s 12x12 planning committee (2024) and MOMENTUM committee (2025), helping connect artists, patrons, and advocates through meaningful events and initiatives. With a background in event planning, volunteer leadership, and stakeholder engagement, Zach values the role of the arts in strengthening communities and fostering connections across Oklahoma.

C.G. is an contemporary symbolist artist exploring the intersection of sacred geometry, mythology and human consciousness. Born and raised in Tampa, Florida, and now based in Norman, Oklahoma, Hall creates symbolic works that merge mathematics, anatomical forms, cosmic imagery and esoteric philosophy. Working across mixed media including acrylic, oil, ink and graphite. His pieces investigate the hidden patterns underlying nature, spirituality and perception. Hall's work often incorporates sacred texts and geometric symbolism, transforming familiar materials into contemplative visual narratives. Through this practice, he invites viewers to reflect on the unseen structures that shape reality, meaning and the human experience.

Uncanny Art Hang is our monthly creative meetup designed to offer artists and creatives a reliable space to connect, make, and recharge. Born from the collaborative spirit of Art Soup, the focus is on showing up, sharing space, and supporting one another rather than following a formal program.

You’re welcome to join us in person at the gallery or virtually through our Discord channel, making this a flexible, accessible way to spend time with the creative community. Guests can also join virtually through the Discord.

Bring a project, a sketchbook, or just yourself. Whether you’re actively working, talking through ideas, or quietly co-creating alongside others, the evening is open and low-pressure.

Schedule

Settle in and reconnect with familiar faces or meet new ones.

6:30 PM – Open Coworking
Work solo or collaboratively, exchange ideas, and enjoy the shared creative energy—both in the gallery and online.

ABOUT UNCANNY ART HOUSE

Located in the heart of Norman, Oklahoma, Uncanny Art House is a multidisciplinary art space focused on creating accessible, immersive experiences for artists and audiences alike. Through exhibitions, workshops, and public programs, the gallery fosters connection, curiosity, and creative exploration. Every purchase made at the garage sale goes directly toward supporting our programming and the exciting lineup we have planned for the remainder of 2026 and into 2027.

🌟 OVAC MEMBER NEWS - Call for Artists! Fall Art Exhibition

The Radiant Healing Arts Center fall art exhibition is happening in October and we want YOUR artwork to be in it! Applications are now open for artists to submit their work for consideration in our next art show.

❗Important Info❗
*Application Deadline is August 31st
*Artwork must be able to be hung on a wall
*Artists are encouraged to sell their artwork and can host a workshop in our event room. (Radiant collects a 20% commission for sold artwork at the end of the show)

Every 4 months, Radiant hosts a selection of artwork hung throughout the building. Each art show will have an opening night event for the public that will include artist talks, light snacks, and local performers. Artist's work will be for sell during the showing and throughout the entire 4 months of display. Some artists may also choose to host art classes/workshops for the public using the center's event room.
