We are celebrating and honoring all the moms out there ❤️

To the moms who: fled everything they knew to protect their children, are learning English alongside literacy in their heritage language, starting new businesses, getting their drivers permits (80+ this year!!)—we celebrate you.

“She is an imagination,
a prophet, a resounding yes
that a bruised earth can heal. She
teaches us to weep, and in the
same rhythm, she teaches us to dance.”

Our volunteers truly extend the work of welcome. They show up for neighbors every week and create safe spaces for learning, friendship, and belonging. They’ve also helped tear down after big events, cleaned out storage units from top to bottom, assisted our legal team during all day clinics, joined our after-school programs, kept littles engaged while moms are learning crucial English skills, tutored math to reluctant teenagers, tackled administrative tasks and assisted or taught in many of our 50+ classes each week. From the bottom of our hearts: thank you, thank you, thank you❤️

Join us for our second annual Walk for Welcome. We are walking to let our neighbors know Oklahomans will not walk away from welcome.

Families who were vetted, approved, and invited to the United States are still being forced to wait in limbo, blocked from arriving. At the same time, sweeping changes at the federal and state level—including deep funding cuts and the loss of critical supports to our neighbors like SNAP benefits—are destabilizing the systems our new neighbors rely on to rebuild their lives.

Recent policy memos have gone even further, raising the threat of prolonged or indefinite detention for refugees who are still waiting on their green cards. These actions put vulnerable families at even greater risk and undermine the very commitments that brought them here.

At the Walk for Welcome, you will stand in solidarity with neighbors already here and those still waiting to arrive—AND take action by helping raise urgently needed funds. Now more than ever, we need resources to continue vital programs like community navigation, employment support, youth programming, and adult education, and to provide direct, rapid-response support when our neighbors need it most.

This is more than a walk—it’s a moment to show up, speak out, and stand together.

🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒Walk for Welcome is a family-friendly event! With a walk length of just over 1 mile, kids activities/crafts, and Scissortail’s Farmers Market and splash pad running nearby, this event will be suitable for everyone.

When we think of collaborative community events, one word always comes to mind-joy. Beyond the delicious food is the true joy we experience when we share a meal with one another, connect, and welcome one another to the table.

We had such a blast last week at our World of Welcome event-over 200 people gathered to share 10 dishes from different countries. Thank you to for making this evening possible, and to all of our neighbor’s and friends for sharing their talents and making amazing food.

If you’ve ever wanted to try dishes from around the world (like Nigerian Samosas, Nicaraguan Arroz á la Valenciana, or Burmese Tea Leaf Salad (if you joined our supper last October, you know you don’t want to miss this!) now is your chance to try them (and more) all at once!

This event is family friendly and casual-pop by for a bit after work or stay the whole time!

Events like this are possible thanks to our partners and sponsors!

Thank you to our Hospitality Sponsors, , , , and the Miano Family in honor of Edwin Lee Downing for their generous time and donations to make this event possible.

Today we learned that SB 1554 has not made it through committee.
SB1554 would have prohibited nonprofits and NGOs “from providing material support for the benefit of any illegal immigrant or asylum seeker within the state. The measure also provides that any officer or member of the NGO that provides such aid shall be guilty of a felony and subject to a term of imprisonment of 1-5 years and/or a maximum fine of $50,000.00. The measure provides for the Attorney General and the relevant district attorney to recover funds previously dispersed to the NGO that violated these prohibitions.”

We cannot thank you enough for making your voices heard. Every letter, email, call and social media post truly made an impact and was heard by our state leaders.

According to our data, because of the story and post shares on Instagram and Facebook alone, the update was viewed by nearly 70,000 people-which is all thanks to your help. This encouraged even more people outside of our networks to speak up.

Your voice matters, and you made a difference.
Thank you!

Celebrate International Women’s Day with us! Next Tuesday, March 10th we are gathering gals (middle-school aged and up) to enjoy a casual dinner and craft activity as well as to hear from 3 incredible women who inspire us daily.

Each had an idea to make a difference in their local and global communities and then took action. You’ll hear about education initiatives for girls in Afghanistan, recovery and support programs for women in Mexico, and learn from a children’s book author who turned her journey of forced displacement into a beautiful story of humanity and hope.

Parents are welcome to attend with their students. 15 available spots. This event is free but registration required. Head over to our website and find all the info you need under “Events.”
