Myth or Fact: Men don't get mammograms?

MYTH! While men qualify for mammography primarily for diagnostic purposes rather than routine screening, the process is much the same as it is for women.

For breast radiologists looking for a refresher on male breast cancer detection, watch SBI's webinar to explore the diagnostic challenges of male breast cancer, appropriate management of common clinical scenarios, and more! https://sbi-online.pulse.ly/kx7fvng6o7

The people who get it, get it. BI-RADS® being updated for the first time in over a decade is a big deal for the breast imaging field.

SBI was proud to provide a place for our members to dive into the latest updates and share thoughts with peers. But the conversation is far from over — join SBI Connect as another place to discuss the latest topics in the field and get questions answered.

If you're looking for more in-depth learning, SBI members have until the end of June to get access to the Day 1 BI-RADS® Bundle from the Symposium through the SBI e-learning portal! https://sbi-online.pulse.ly/dg5ngk03g9

If you attended Dr. Amie Lee's talk, MRI: Things That Make You Go Hmmm, during the 2026 SBI Breast Imaging Symposium, this case may look a little familiar. Were you able to crack the case?

BI-RADS® v2025 teaching points of this case:
- MRI Margins: Irregular ➡️ Indistinct
- MRI mass internal enhancement characteristics: Rim-enhancement ➡️ Thick rim enhancement
- MRI Associated Features: Peritumoral edema
- Pectoralis involvement replaced invasion

If MRI shows greater extent of different morphology:
- Additional Close Finding < 2cm from known cancer or does not increase extent ≥2 cm) ➡️ BI-RADS® 6
- If different morphology and increases extent > 2cm ➡️ BI-RADS® 4 or 5

Today we wanted to share a few of the women shaping the future of breast imaging, including four SBI members whose impact reaches far beyond their own institutions.

Connie Lehman, MD, PhD; Paula Gordon, OC, OBC, MD, FRCPC, FSBI; Victoria Mango, MD, FSBI; and Jean Seely, MD, FRCPC, FSBI, FCAR, are advancing equity, expanding access, and driving the science that saves lives worldwide.

These four are among so many in our community doing extraordinary work. To all the women in radiology, thank you for leading the way.
