East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation (EBALDC) is a non-profit community development organization with over 45 years of experience in building healthy, vibrant and safe neighborhoods in Oakland and East Bay. We address the specific needs of individual neighborhoods by connecting the essential elements of health and wellbeing through our Healthy Neighborhoods Approach. EBALDC is known for de

veloping and managing diverse, mixed-income complexes and communities, while providing vital social and financial services, to help give long-time, low-income residents the ability to stay in their neighborhoods. We recognize and build upon the assets unique to each community to inform and establish thoughtful partnerships that will address the social factors impacting a neighborhood’s health and wellbeing. This comprehensive perspective helps families and individuals begin a path toward healthy, stable and fulfilling lives in a holistic, sustainable way.

EBALDC and Abode Housing Development celebrated the groundbreaking of 34th and San Pablo, an affordable housing community bringing 59 units to West Oakland, with community leaders, project partners, and neighbors with a speaking program and Night Market!

The Night Market, an homage to SPARC-IT Place, was youth-entrepreneur focused in collaboration with Storefront Records!

“After intentional community engagement and planning we are excited to see 34th and San Pablo break ground,” said Janelle Chan, CEO of EBALDC. “Not only will it bring much needed housing to help prevent displacement for neighborhood residents, but it will offer space for community businesses and connection.”

The ceremony’s featured speakers included Congresswoman Simon, Supervisor Bas, Oakland’s Mayor Lee, Felicity Gasser with State HCD, Dominica Henderson from OHA, and Oakland resident, Ms. Cook.

The groundbreaking featured CA Hotel tenant, Hungry Kitchens, who provided pre-event snacks and Drinks!
The night market featured CA Hotel tenant and community collaborator, solfood alongside other community vendors.
