What a beautiful day to break ground on the new Lincoln Recreation Center project! The community came together to celebrate this exciting milestone, marking a truly momentous achievement for everyone involved.

Wa Sung Community Service Club is proud to serve as the fiscal sponsor for both the Friends of Lincoln Recreation Center Capital Campaign and Lincoln Summer Nights. This partnership reflects the incredible synergy and shared commitment to investing in our community and creating opportunities for generations to come.

The Zodiac Tiles Live On: A Community Treasure Preserved

Sponsored by Wa Sung in 1977, the iconic Chinese Zodiac tiles have welcomed visitors at the Lincoln Square Community Center's front entrance for nearly 50 years.

With the building's demolition scheduled to begin in July or August 2026, Wa Sung acted quickly to preserve this cherished piece of community history. On July 11, 2026, contractors carefully removed all 469 Chinese Zodiac animal tiles, with the hope of incorporating them into a future historical art mural or public display.

Join us as we celebrate the next chapter for Lincoln Square! The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Lincoln Square Park Recreation Center and Resilience Hub will take place on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. We hope to see you there!

***AYSC volunteers brought the 15 heavy storage bins of 469 tiles to the Wa Sung Office!

We had a fabulous Wa Sung Founder's Day Picnic at the San Leandro Marina yesterday! Food was plentiful, Weather was perfect, and it was fun seeing everyone!

Wa Sung Community Service Club Harbor Tour

The Wa Sung Community Service Club invites you to join a free harbor tour hosted by the Port of Oakland. Enjoy spectacular views of the San Francisco Bay while learning about the Port’s operations and history. Following the tour, no-host dinner will be at Seabreeze on the Dock.

Date: August 14th, 2026
Time: 6:30pm (90 minutes cruise)
Boarding location: Oakland Jack London Terminal (Ferry Dock) at 10 Clay St. (at the corner of Water Street) in Jack London Square. There are nearby parking lots (There is a fee to park.)

Seats are limited, so please RSVP by July 29.
