Lowcountry Orphan Relief is a local non-profit that provides support services and aid to meet the

needs of Lowcountry children identified as at-risk or suffering from abandonment, abuse or neglect. Our Founder, Lynn Young witnessed foster children being removed from their families often taken in the middle of the night or while at school and most were unable to get their belongings to bring with them. The court system can take up to two weeks to process these children; and during that time, the children have to make do with whatever clothing and personal items they had when they left their homes. In many cases, Lynn saw children staying in the same clothing often up to one week. Lowcountry Orphan Relief serves more than 300 organizations in Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties, including the Department of Social Services, all local group foster homes, foster parents, local schools, and more. For each child, we are able to provide 2 weeks of new and like new clothing, pajamas, shoes, toiletries, school supplies and uniforms, as well as coats, books, stuffed animals, and new socks and underwear. We have a Distribution Center in North Charleston that fills Care Kits for children within 48 hours. Our daily average is 15-20 Care Kits per day, and we distribute an average of about about 4,000+ Care Kits per year.

🌟 Saturday Spotlight 🌟 This week, we want to thank University School of the Lowcountry and West Ashley High School for their support of Lowcountry Orphan Relief πŸ’™

Students from University School of the Lowcountry spent time volunteering with us, helping presort donations and organize items for children in our community.

We also want to thank West Ashley High School for donating items from their lost and found as the school year came to a close. A special thank you to Ms. Kathy, the school nurse, for helping coordinate this donation and making it possible.
