The Charleston Area Pollution Prevention Partnership (CAPS) is pleased to extend you an invitation to be a vendor at the “Charleston Area Pollution Prevention Partnership Environmental Justice Conference and Community Summit”. The conference will be held on September 7, 2013 at 9:00; at the Trident Technical College Conference. 7000 Rivers Ave. North Charleston, SC 29406 (Building 920).
This conference will serve as a forum for the exchange of ideas among community members, researchers, public health practitioners, policymakers, students, and advocates on environmental justice issues. The goal of this Conference is to establish a community engaged research enterprise on critical environmental health disparities and environmental justice issues, to raise the visibility of racial and ethnic environmental health disparities and feasible solutions with Charleston residents, and regional stakeholders, and facilitate action for change. Workshop topics include: 1) Environmental Monitoring in the Charleston MSA; 2) Impact of the SC LEAP Program in Improving Public Health in SC Communities; 3) The use of Community Based Participatory Research to Address Environmental Injustice in Charleston, SC; and 4) Emerging Leaders in Environmental Justice Panel and Multimedia Presentation, among other diverse topics.
This is the 1st EJ Conference and would like it to be the best. Our vision is to have representation from local, state, and grassroots organizations/agencies that have a vested interest in our communities provide information and/or screening (when applicable) for the Health Fair component. We believe the first step to action is awareness and education.
