A Chance In Life

A Chance In Life We're on a mission to provide a chance in life to at-risk youth throughout the world.

A Chance In Life is a nonprofit organization founded in Italy in 1945 by Irish priest Monsignor Carroll-Abbing, who was moved by the plight of orphaned and vulnerable children living on the streets after World War II. Inspired by their resilience and independence, he created Boys’ and Girls’ Towns of Italy—with a visionary model "self-government" that empowered youth to manage their own communities. Over the decades, these Towns became a home for young refugees and unaccompanied minors from more different countries. In 2016, our organization became A Chance In Life to reflect our expanding global mission. Guided by the Positive Youth Development (PYD) approach, we now support at-risk youth through our youth and community center in the U.S. and a growing network of local partners across Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, and Europe. To date, we have impacted the lives of over 80,000 young people—helping them build brighter futures through education, leadership development, and community support.

One. Million. Dollars.
For the first time in nearly a decade, A Chance In Life raised over $1 million at our 81st Annual Gala, and we’re still taking it in.
Every dollar will go toward giving young people the resources, skills, and self-confidence they need to lead and contribute in their communities, from Staten Island to the 14 countries where we work. Your generosity means we can reach more youth and do work we’ve never been able to do before.

October 6th was the most magical night of the year. Nearly 500 guests joined us to celebrate young people finding their way to safety, education, and leadership through A Chance In Life , and we reached record breaking numbers. We highlighted our honorees and heard magical music from Staten Island choir . Thank you to everyone who helped us open the door to Neverland.
