MIPAD 100 Honoring high achievers worldwide in support of the UN's Decade for People of African Descent.

Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD) is a global civil society initiative in support of the International Decade for People of African Descent, proclaimed by United Nation's General Assembly resolution 68/237 and to be observed from 2015 to 2024. MIPAD is a unique global list that identifies high achievers of African descent worldwide, pairing those in the Diaspora with their counterparts inside Africa, to foster collaborations for the glory of Africa and it's Diaspora

Today, we celebrate not only the continent of Africa, but the global family of African descent connected to her history, culture, creativity, resilience and future.

As the African Union marks 63 years of unity, integration and development, MIPAD joins Africans on the continent and across the diaspora in recommitting to one shared assignment:

Official Announcement — The Most Influential People of African Descent Honours Michael Jackson and Jaafar Jackson

Each year on August 31, in celebration of the UN International Day for People of African Descent, MIPAD announces its annual Hall of Fame and Lifetime Achievement Honourees.

For the Class of 2026, MIPAD is making a special early announcement to coincide with the global release of the Michael biopic—marking a defining cultural moment.

MIPAD Honours Michael Jackson and Jaafar Jackson as part of the Class of 2026 Most Influential Global List

We proudly recognises a legacy that shaped the world—and the next generation carrying it forward.

Michael Jackson will receive MIPAD’s first-ever Posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award, recognised as the Most Influential Entertainer of African Descent—a global icon whose influence continues to define music, performance, and culture.

Jaafar Jackson is honoured as a Class of 2026 Hall of Fame Award Recipient for his portrayal in the upcoming biopic Michael, bringing this legacy to life for a new generation.
