Last Wednesday, IABANY teamed up with Federal Bar Association Southern District of New York to celebrate Bloomsday and to honor James Joyce and his novel Ulysses, with an evening of storytelling, wit and free expression.

Our ‘Say Anything’ open mic was a great success with stories that moved us, songs that had everyone singing and incredibly talented dancers and musicians.

A huge thank you to everyone who took the mic and to all our members, colleagues, judges, students and friends who came out to make it a night to remember.

Here’s to storytelling and free speech!

NEXT WEEK!

SAY ANYTHING, A BLOOMSDAY OPEN MIC CELEBRATION!☘️🎤

Join the Irish American Bar Association of New York and the Federal Bar Association, Southern District of New York Chapter, for an evening of cocktails, networking, and celebration as we commemorate Bloomsday, the annual observance honoring James Joyce and
his landmark novel, Ulysses.

Celebrated around the world each June, Bloomsday pays tribute to literature, storytelling, wit, imagination, and the free exchange of ideas. Inspired by that spirit, we invite members, colleagues, judges, law students, and friends to gather for an evening of conversation, camaraderie, and creative expression.

A featured highlight of the evening will be “Say Anything,” our Bloomsday Open Mic. Four participants will be selected to deliver brief five-minute presentations.

Read a favorite passage, tell a story, recite a poem, perform a song, share an observation, or offer something entirely unexpected. The format is simple: five minutes to entertain, inspire, provoke thought, or simply make us smile.

Interested in participating? Submit your proposed open mic presentation to [email protected] by 5pm on June 19, 2026. Selected participants will be notified in advance of the event.

Whether you come to perform, network, reconnect with colleagues, or simply enjoy a summer evening with friends and colleagues, we hope you’ll join us in celebrating community, friendship, literature, and the enduring power of expression.

Come for the cocktails. Stay for the conversation. Say anything.
