Through life’s ups and downs, you are a rock, voice of reason and source of wisdom. You keep us grounded and make us secretly giggle, even when your jokes or dance moves make us publicly groan. Sometimes spotted working the grill, telling stories on the stoop, showing off your latest gadget or teaching us what you know, you often take time to remind us that family, health and happiness are what truly matter. Despite your stoicism and tough talk, we know you’re actually more like a cuddly teddy bear inside.

Also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, Liberation Day and Emancipation Day in many communities, it is the largest and most widespread emancipation celebration in the United States. Whether you’re taking the day to reflect or celebrating at events across NYC, we hope your holiday is meaningful.

We’re focused on making life-saving preventive health screenings as easy and convenient as possible for our members! So while NYC celebrated the Knicks’ NBA championship win today, the Elderplan team was helping our members champion their health by scheduling mammogram appointments, coordinating free transportation and providing onsite support during their visits.

Thank you to Maimonides Health and the Maimonides Breast Center for your partnership in helping schedule mammograms for more than 35 of our members in Brooklyn!
