Two rabbits. One town. Two very different emergencies. Bertha and Moka were found in Patchogue, NY, within two days of each other.

Bertha, a gentle lop, was dumped outside to fend for herself with a baseball-sized abscess running from her shoulder to her jaw. At Long Island Veterinary Specialists, she had the abscess drained, surgery to clean it out, and a CT scan, which also found pneumonia. Bertha will need several more procedures to heal.

Sweet Moka was found near a Starbucks with a badly broken femur. The break was so severe that it couldn't be repaired, so his leg had to be amputated. After two days of hospital care, he's on the road to recovery.

We're raising $3,500 to cover their surgeries, medications, and ongoing care. Every dollar goes directly to Bertha and Moka.

Adopted!
At last, Opal has found her home!

She is a lustrous gem…
Healthy, smart, tidy, and friendly.

But like most bigger ruby-eyed white rabbits, she waited a long time to be adopted. However, it was totally worth the wait because the home she got is perfect for her!

What a contrast to her beginnings. In May of 2025, the ASPCA and the Bronx District Attorneys Office collaborated to rescue more than 30 animals from a self-described shelter. The animals were removed from the property and underwent veterinary forensic exams and were transported to ASPCA facilities where they received the necessary vet assessment. From there Opal came into the care of AARR.

She now has several adults to keep her entertained and spoil her. There are 2 floors to explore, connected by a carpeted staircase she has recently mastered. There is no shortage of space to exercise, comfy spots to nap, or hands to love her.

We are elated to know that Opal is with a wonderful family who were previous AARR adopters.
May they all enjoy many hoppy years together.

Meet Sploot!

Sploot was rescued by a kind gentleman who noticed her along the side of a very busy parkway in Suffolk County along with two other rabbits. He immediately knew she and the others were in danger and stepped in to save them all.

Sploot is super goofy and a big fan of treats. She's shy at first but loves pets and will love being the center of attention once she's comfortable. She's an energetic little bun so give her plenty of hiding space and toys.

Sploot is litter trained, spayed and ready for her forever home.
Fostered in central Suffolk County, NY.

Inquiries can be made to [email protected]

We are assisting to rehome this 4 year old spayed Lop named Willow. We are told she is calm, affectionate, and litter trained.

Please note that she is still with her current owner (her 2nd home so far) and not under the care of AARR.

According to the vet records, she was spayed in 2022. The last time she saw a vet was the spring of 2023, so she is definitely overdue for a checkup.

If you are looking for a middle aged girl, perhaps Willow could be the one for you?

She will be making an appearance at our adoption event this weekend. Come meet her there!

Bunny Butt Friday!
This week's sweet seat belongs to adoptable Santiego.

Santiego was an easy catch at Forest Park Queens where lots of rabbits are abandoned year round. He was not scared or running away. He was obviously a house pet that was discarded.

He is a pint sized ball of love that wants to be pet all day.
He is very sweet and intelligent. He loves his greens and pellets and will eat them right away. No shyness with food and treats.

He is easy to handle and would make a great couch buddy or bun partner
He was neutered on 8.14 and his litter box skills are pretty good.

Santiego is under 4lbs and is some kind of dwarf mix.
Any adopter would be lucky to have him.

He has been f***l tested (negative for parasites) and ready to be adopted. Adoption fee is $125.
Please inquire at [email protected]

Adopted!
Our "gentle giant" Solomon has found his permanent home!

Solomon’s new bun dad first met him at an AARR adoption event a few months back, where Solomon did a speed date with another former AARR rescue, the lovely Jessica. After fostering Solly in August, his bun dad has adopted this delightful 2-year-old, 8-pound rabbit for good!

It didn't take long for Solomon to upgrade from a pen to free-roam privileges across the apartment. Now, he spends afternoons napping under the couch, emerging the second he hears the sound of pellets being poured into his bowl. Between his love for Timothy hay and romaine, he’s a model roommate who respects the baseboards and his bun dad's bass guitars—save for the occasional misunderstandings with a yoga mat.

Solly sports remarkably soft fur, distinct dark grey and light brown markings, and a hilariously unpredictable pair of furry antennas. With upright ears from birth, Solly's left ear drooped suddenly shortly before he came to his new home, then he returned to full upright-ear status briefly before changing to a right-ear flop. Every morning and evening, Solomon waits on the floor for his new bun dad to join him for cuddle sessions, closing his eyes and tooth-purring in total relaxation while a small storm of fur flies into the air with every stroke of his bun dad's hand. Don't worry, his bun dad vacuums daily!

We at AARR are so happy for Solomon, who was kept in a very small cage and served as entertainment for the children of more than one family before finding his way to the arms of rescue.
Congratulations to him and his new dad.

Meet Jackson!

This sweet boy was found wandering by a Long Island Railroad train station. Luckily for him, AARR was notified and quickly sprung into action. He was happy to be saved and has settled into his foster home. He enjoys spending time with the foster family's children and their dogs. He is very docile and enjoys laying on your lap as your massage his ears. He would make an excellent husbun to a lucky female rabbit.

Please reach out to [email protected] for an application. The adoption fee is $125.
He has been neutered and f***l tested..
