We partner a highly motivated, well trained community chorus with outstanding professionals in an innovative and successful model that attracts performers from all backgrounds and musical levels. The Manhattan Opera Repertory Ensemble will present a gala opera concert Saturday August 24 at 7:30 pm to benefit Most Precious Blood Church, 109 Mulberry Street in Little Italy , NYC. The church was esta

blished in 1888 to serve Italian immigrants. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE


Tickets for the benefit are $30 at the door, or $20 in advance through the church office at (212) 226-6427, or by contacting the ADVANCE box office at 212-252-2512 (voice mail) or [email protected]. Proceeds go to the church’s building fund. The Church of the Most Precious Blood in Little Italy began by Vatican decree in the late 1800's, to establish a National Parish for the sole purpose of serving the rapidly growing number of Italian immigrants in New York. The church serves in recognition of the many talents and accomplishments of people of Italian heritage and is the center for the annual San Gennaro Feast.

Today’s featured composer is Harry T. Burleigh, a pioneering composer, arranger, and baritone who became the first African American composer to gain national recognition for both his original art songs and arrangements of spirituals. His work helped bring African American musical traditions into the classical concert repertoire and influenced generations of musicians.

Join us with the LPAC Community Chorus! 🎶 MORE Opera is offering free vocal training open to all: students, faculty, staff, and neighbors. No experience needed, just a love for music and community. Rehearsals lead up to powerful Juneteenth and July 4th performances celebrating freedom, culture, and unity.

We’ll also be at the 5 de Mayo (Wednesday May 6th) Festival at LaGuardia Community College from 2–4 PM, stop by to meet us and learn how to get involved!
