International House NY

International House NY Welcome residents and alumni of International House New York!

Since 1924, I-House has welcomed bright young people from all over the world to live, learn and grow together through a transformative experience that prepares them to join and lead the conversations that will change the world. In addition to safe and comfortable housing within a New York City historic landmark, I-House offers a unique array of programming and opportunities that foster cross-cultu

ral connection and lifelong friendships. The I-House experience doesn't end with residency; community members are welcomed into the global Alumni network for life, joining more than 65K postgraduates from all over the world who have called I-House home. Through this simple but radical idea, we have built a network of globally-minded leaders who go on to live lives guided by the values of Respect for differences, Empathy for others, and the Moral Courage to act for what is right.

*Due to Covid-19, I-House is implementing an array of measures and protocols developed with the health and safety of our community the top priority.

At our latest Alumni Picnic, I-House alums revisited favorite traditions, spaces, and experiences through a lightning round of "This or That?" Main Lounge or Dodge Room? Night of Nations or Sunday Supper? North Building or South?

Weigh in on these and other classic I-House debates in the comments! 🗣️

What's a House without a little garden? 🏡🌱

The new Abby O'Neill Patio is already getting put to good use with this week's seed planting tutorial and garden party. Inspired by our recent volunteer experience with Concrete Safaris, residents gathered to plant their own seeds and learn the basics of growing plants at home. Now that we've finished potting, painting, and prepping them for success, it's time to watch these House plants grow. (We'll try to be patient.)

Over the summer, we asked I-House alumni to write a welcome note to our incoming residents. With over 200 residents moving in over the next few weeks, these messages are sure to give them all a warm welcome to their new home. 📝🌎

A huge thank you to all the alumni who shared their memories and words of wisdom with the newest members of the I-House community. 💚

Put the word out: The Main Lounge, Dodge Room, and Abby O’Neill Patio are back! 🛋️🎉

After months of anticipation, residents and staff gathered for a very special Ice Cream Social celebrating the re-opening of these iconic I-House spaces. Each space has been thoughtfully updated with new furnishings, technology, accessibility improvements, and enhanced amenities to better serve the resident community. Our thanks to everyone who put in the hard work to make this possible, and a very special shout-out to the 2026 Resident Class Gift campaign committee for their contributions to the Abby O’Neill Patio.

We look forward to seeing everyone back in these historic spaces! 🌎🏠

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our sixth annual Alumni Reunion Picnic at Central Park’s Sheep Meadow! 🧺🌎

It was wonderful to see alumni catch up with old friends, connect with fellow alums, and meet current I-House residents. A very special shout-out to New York Area Alumni Chapter President Anita Haravon ’11 for helping organize the event and keeping everyone connected. We hope to see everyone back in the park next summer!
