The quickest way to lose a cinematic point of view on a branded film is to treat the brief as a shot list.

The complication in branded work is that the film also has a very specific job to do. That job should not be treated as the enemy of cinema. In my experience, the problem begins when communication objectives replace directing choices instead of informing them.
