What a wonderful celebration on Saturday, August 8, 2026, of the life of Mrs. Geraldine Parker, former President of the Stapleton Houses Resident Association, who passed away on September 16, 2024. The day also marked the official renaming of the Stapleton Houses Community Garden to the Geraldine Parker Community Garden. Our organization was proud to commission the sign for the garden with support from Public Housing Community Fund and Mangin Media. .
A huge thank you to Victoria Cerullo, Director of Urban Engagement at The New York Climate Exchange, for years of support and for attending the event. Thank you to the NYCHA staff, Genara Burks, current Tenant Association President of Stapleton Houses, and the entire TA team, as well as to Antoinnette Donegan for the opening remarks.
We want to acknowledge the incredible Parker family and Mr. Parker for their strength, perseverance, and dedication to the garden. Here’s to the garden growing and thriving under its new name.
