Harold Hunter Foundation HHF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides support, opportunity & advocacy for NYC skateboarders.

We believe that many of the very qualities, abilities and characteristics that draw kids to skateboarding and make them talented as riders can also make them vulnerable to a variety of pitfalls. NYC skateboarders, in particular, have unique needs that are not adequately served by traditional organizations and institutions, thereby hindering the optimal development of their talent and potential in all aspects of life. We seek to fill this void by providing services that are specifically and creatively tailored to the needs of skateboarders – from the child who is picking up a board for the first time, to the kid who wants to do nothing but skateboard, to the rising Flow or Am rider trying to break into the industry, the professional living his or her dream, the former professional trying to transition into a new career, and the young entrepreneur starting up an independent skate business. We believe that skateboarding offers enormous life lessons that enriched Harold’s life and provided him with unseen opportunities to experience the world in a way that kids from his background rarely do. We wholeheartedly believe that skateboarding is a rich culture and community that has the potential to save lives.

As mentioned in our previous post, HHF has teamed up with SHUT and designer Seth Neary of Driven Studio to release a limited-edition collector’s deck, t-shirt, and tote bag featuring Charlie Samuels’ iconic 1989 photo of Harold skitching a yellow cab with the Twin Towers looking on.

100% of net proceeds support HHF’s youth programming in NYC. The pre-order window runs through September 18th with items shipping to customers by mid-October.

The deck features an intricate collage-style graphic using vintage Letraset typography all hand-cut-and-crafted by Seth Neary. Quotes from Charlie Samuels are woven throughout the graphic with an artist statement and silk-screened signature on the top sheet.

HHF x SHUT x Charlie Samuels Twin Towers Tribute Collection Now Available

In 1989, photographer Charlie Samuels captured one of the most iconic NYC skate photos of all-time—Harold skitching a yellow cab as the majestic Twin Towers looked on.

As we mark the 25th anniversary of September 11, we reflect on a day that forever changed NYC and the world. Charlie’s powerful photo holds particular meaning, capturing two enduring symbols of New York together in a moment preserved in time.

Today, Charlie’s image carries a significance and poignancy that could never have been anticipated when it was snapped all those years ago.

In partnership with SHUT and designer Seth Neary of Driven Studio, HHF is honored to release a limited-edition, co-branded collector’s deck, t-shirt, and tote adorned with this historically significant photo.

100% of net proceeds will support HHF programming via The Skatepark Project.
