Harold Hunter Foundation

Harold Hunter Foundation HHF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides support, opportunity & advocacy for NYC skateboarders.

We believe that many of the very qualities, abilities and characteristics that draw kids to skateboarding and make them talented as riders can also make them vulnerable to a variety of pitfalls. NYC skateboarders, in particular, have unique needs that are not adequately served by traditional organizations and institutions, thereby hindering the optimal development of their talent and potential in

all aspects of life. We seek to fill this void by providing services that are specifically and creatively tailored to the needs of skateboarders – from the child who is picking up a board for the first time, to the kid who wants to do nothing but skateboard, to the rising Flow or Am rider trying to break into the industry, the professional living his or her dream, the former professional trying to transition into a new career, and the young entrepreneur starting up an independent skate business. We believe that skateboarding offers enormous life lessons that enriched Harold’s life and provided him with unseen opportunities to experience the world in a way that kids from his background rarely do. We wholeheartedly believe that skateboarding is a rich culture and community that has the potential to save lives.

Rider Development is a Harold Hunter Program intended to support adolescents / young adults (ages 16-25) that are passionate about skateboarding as they develop a vision for their future. This program blends skateboarding, self-reflection and workforce development to help young adults identify their skills, passions and goals. This year’s program will focus on the IKIGAI Framework for identifying purpose and direction in life. Participants will consider the following questions: What do you love? What are you good at? What does the world need? What can you get paid for?

If you are 16-25 years old, driven to create a vision for your life path, and can demonstrate consistency and dedication, this might be the program for you. Please contact [email protected] for more information.

The Brooklyn Banks are fully back. A world-famous spot that shaped generations of skateboarding, from local NYC sessions to legendary clips seen everywhere. A huge part of Harold career was spent here!

Huge respect to everyone who fought to make this happen.
Steve Rodriguez, The Skatepark Project, Gotham Parkc, NYC Parks, Community Board leaders, advocates, skaters, and everyone who kept the pressure on for years.

This last phase reopening is bigger than a skatepark. It’s proof that history can be protected, rebuilt, and passed on to the next generation. See you at the Banks. 🧱🛹
