NVNO is taking over the grand stage with the legendary Hot 8 Brass Band for our All-Program Season Finale of “Wade in the Water”

For more than 20 years, Hot 8 has been a New Orleans staple, performing around the world and lending their sound to film and television. And like our singers, their journey started with their school’s music education programs, proof of the power of learning, growing, and creating through music.

💫New Voices New Orleans is closing out the season in a BIG way, and we want you to be part of it. 💜✨

On May 5th, our Season Finale Concert takes over the New Orleans Jazz Market, featuring all 200 of our young singers from:

KIPP Central City Academy
KIPP Central City Primary
Hynes UNO
KIPP Believe

This powerful performance blends science, song, and storytelling, exploring New Orleans’ deep connection to water through music like “Backwater Blues” and “Wade in the Water,” alongside new original works.🎶✨🎵

And it all happens on GiveNOLA Day

Our goal: $15,000 to continue growing, expanding, and reaching more students across our community.🤜🏼🤛🏽

This season, NVNO served 227 singers, across six programs at four partner schools. We’ve only been able to engage so many singers through the generosity of our incredible community. We need your help to take it further.

Here’s what we’re aiming for this year:

GOAL #1: Meet the Match — $5,000�Every donation made between April 28th - May 4 is MATCHED 1:1. That means your $10 = $20 of impact! 🤜🏼🤛🏽

GOAL #2: Secure 300 individual donors�The more people who give, the more we can win! Last year we placed 3rd. This year, we’re aiming even higher. 🙌

GOAL #3: Raise $15,000�To grow stronger and bring NVNO to more students & more schools 🎶
Because of YOU, we’re building something that lasts, and expanding to reach 50 additional students in programs at two new schools. 🎶🎼🎵🎤

Join us for a special evening with the Festival Chorus on Thursday, October 16th at the stunning Marigny Opera House! 🎶

We’re opening our rehearsal to the public from 5:30–6:30pm (725 St. Ferdinand Street, New Orleans) — with a unique opportunity to experience live music in this breathtaking space.

This event also brings together local business and non-profit leaders to learn how they can support and our upcoming season. 🌟

On Saturday, we held our season launch party at the historic New Canal Lighthouse. It was a monumental event as we kicked off our 4th season, themed “Wade in the Water.”

We had the honor of being joined by Ms. Pat Byrd, daughter of the legendary Professor "Fess" Longhair, who shared with our singers a powerful message of encouragement. We are deeply grateful for her support and confidence, and we were overjoyed that our rendition of “Be Who You Are” by Jon Batiste resonated with her.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the Pontchartrain Conservancy for allowing us to use your beautiful and inspiring venue, and to Meteorologist Scot Pilie' for hosting our event and bringing the phenomenal weather. It couldn’t have been a better kickoff to what promises to be an amazing season.
