Audubon Schools became a charter management organization in 2018 in response to the expansion of our flagship school, Audubon Charter School. Originally established as Audubon Montessori school and later chartered as Audubon Charter School following Hurricane Katrina, the demand for Audubon Charter School far outpaced the number of seats available each year with approximately 800-1,000 application
s for up to 200 available seats year over year. In working with Orleans Parish School Board, Audubon Charter School transitioned to a charter management organization and established a second school - Audubon Charter Gentilly. In 2025, Audubon was granted an opportunity to expand our network to the Capital City of Baton Rouge. In the fall of the 2025-26 school year, Audubon Baton Rouge will open its doors, servicing students from grades K-5. Audubon Baton Rouge will follow the model of our Gentilly Campus, with an innovative academic model with focus on arts inclusions.
