As a community committed to advocacy, justice and liberation, we honor Juneteenth as a sacred reminder that our work is unfinished as long as any of our neighbors remain oppressed by racism, injustice, or white supremacy. We give thanks for the faith, courage, and organizing of Black freedom fighters past and present, and we continue our commitment to building a world where freedom is a reality for all.

We’re thrilled and deeply honored to share that the St. Charles Center for Faith + Action has been awarded a $55,000 grant from the Foundation for Louisiana. This investment affirms the power of our work at the intersection of faith, justice, and community - and it comes at a pivotal moment of growth for our organization.

With this support, we’ll be strengthening our team, deepening how we tell our story, and building the tools and infrastructure needed to expand our impact across New Orleans and beyond. We’re grateful to the Foundation for Louisiana for believing in this vision and for investing in a more just, connected, and compassionate future.

Growing up in rural South Georgia, my only exposure to New Orleans was Greasing of the Poles on the national news, on Mardi Gras day. It was so scandalous, these revelers sliding their bodies and props on poles in the streets, all in the name of Fat Tuesday. I grew up in the Southern Baptist...

Save the date for a simple morning of connection and conversation. Stop by on your way to work, or when you need a morning break, July 24, 9–11am.

We’re welcoming faith leaders and organizers from all traditions and denominations - because our city is stronger when we actually know one another’s stories.

Drop in when you can, grab a free coffee on The Center, and help us build a more connected and compassionate New Orleans together.

Catch us Tuesday next week, standing in solidarity with Communities of Hope, joining interfaith partners to defend human dignity, civil rights, and voting rights for our neighbors across Louisiana.

The first pride was a protest. 🏳️‍🌈🌈

We are grateful for our community partners doing important work to collect and share LGBTQ+ history, create safe spaces for those most in need, and advocate for equity for all.

We’re grateful for our partners at PJI and proud to highlight the impact they’re making in our communities. And yet, a recent court ruling reminds us that the work continues. We stand with our partners in resolve.

This week, a federal court recognized what incarcerated workers at Angola have said for years: forcing people to complete agricultural labor in dangerous heat is unconstitutional.

But the ruling failed to implement any permanent changes OR name the broader violence of the Farm Line system rooted in slavery and dehumanization.
This falls short of justice and accountability.

The brave men who brought this case have changed lives through their courage, and the fight to end plantation prisons is not over

We’re celebrating BIG gratitude today!

Thank you to St. Charles Avenue Baptist Church for raising an incredible $8,000 in this year’s spring fundraiser! Your generosity fuels our work and reminds us how powerful community support can be. We’re so thankful to be in partnership with you.

Did you know? St. Charles Avenue Baptist Church founded the Center with a vision that their legacy of justice, inclusion, advocacy, and community care would continue to grow beyond the walls of the church. That vision is still alive today, and we’re honored to carry it forward together.
