Youth Empowerment Project - YEP www.youthempowermentproject.org It was the first program of its kind in the state of Louisiana.

Youth Empowerment Project was founded in 2004 by three juvenile justice advocates to support formerly incarcerated young people as they transitioned back into their communities. Since then, YEP has expanded to engage young people who live in poverty, are out of school or work, or have experienced trauma. Today, we provide mentoring and youth advocacy, adult education and high school equivalency pr

eparation, employment readiness and career exploration, and out-of-school time enrichment programming.

Our Photo Club participants have been getting creative behind the camera, practicing how to take portraits, using blur to capture action, experimenting with light to add drama, and exploring angles and texture.

Most importantly, they’re learning, creating, and having FUN! ❤️💚💙

A special shoutout to Mrs. Kerri Westenberg for her vision and implementation of Photo Club and for creating a space where our participants can learn, explore, and express their creativity through photography. 📸

We are so grateful to the incredible Ochsner Westbank Clinic staff volunteers for spending time at our Westbank YEP Educates site to refresh, reorganize, and help us create a welcoming space for our participants!

We are so excited to resume programming and continue providing a supportive environment for young people working hard to earn their High School Equivalency. Your time, care, and generosity help make this work possible.
