We're excited to feature Dan Forman in YLC's 40th Anniversary Where Are They Now? series.
Dan's favorite YLC memory is the launch of Wednesday at the Square, in the years after Katrina when the community rallied behind YLC and its members. "So many of our own board and members were still recovering from real personal losses, on top of everything the city itself was going through," Dan says. "It took real chutzpah for that team to show up and build something anyway." As WATS's first project leader, Dan says the team kept hearing yes: Hancock Bank came on as an early sponsor, and the Saints followed as title sponsor the next year.
A YLC member from 2005-2011, Dan went on to serve as VP of Projects, President Elect, and President in 2010. "Lee Reid is the reason I ended up in YLC at all," Dan says. He also points to Derrick Rogers, Nolan Marshall, Erica Woodley, and Joe Giarrusso as leaders whose perspective and drive shaped the board during those years, and calls Executive Director Amy Boyle Collins "truly inspirational" throughout it all.
Today, Dan is Co-Founder and CEO of NOLA Detox and Recovery Center. "The relationships I made during my YLC years are still some of the most meaningful in my life," he says.
