5️⃣days away!!! Please join the Photo Alliance for the opening of our next exhibition, Light on Cut Paper!
We are so excited for this third annual photography and collage exhibition in partnership with the Kolaj Institute during Kolaj Festival.

Wednesday, June 10, 5-8pm. The exhibition will be hosted at The Art Spot (2011 Magazine St).

Photography and collage have a long history of being in dialogue with one another; however, the intersection of these two mediums is poorly explored. New Orleans Photo Alliance and Kolaj Institute are working together to investigate the intersection of this medium. We sought work by artists who collage their own photographs, make photomontage, use a collage-like process in either the composition of photographs or in the dark room.

We had a great time at Dr. Leon Ledet’s lighting workshop where he used a model to demonstrate various studio lighting set ups.

We also had an awesome night at A Gallery Talk, hosted by A Gallery for Fine Photography, with presentations from Eli Mergel, Joshua Mann Pailet, and Richard Sexton, moderated by Richard McCabe.

The next event from the Photo Alliance will be the opening of our annual photography x collage exhibition: Light on Cut Paper, June 10 at 5-8pm. The opening will be held at The Art Spot at 2011 Magazine St and is in collaboration with the Kolaj Institute for Kolaj Fest.

📣📣📣ANNOUNCEMENT: In recent weeks, NOPA volunteers and board members have noticed some rapid acceleration in structural damage to the ceiling and an interior beam of the building NOPA rents for the gallery space. Out of an abundance of caution, the Board has made the difficult decision to temporarily close the center at 7800 Oak St. Programming - including meetings, workshops and exhibitions will continue through the summer, at satellite locations to be announced.
We are in communication with the building’s owner to determine the feasibility of repair plans, and will share that timeline as soon as we can. (The culprit is termites, and the constant rain has certainly not helped the situation.)

Please see the programming changes below

1️⃣ The June first Tuesday talk, originally scheduled June 2 from 6-7pm will be postponed. We will announce a new date in the upcoming weeks.

2️⃣ June 10! Please join us for the opening of our upcoming exhibition, Light on Cut Paper. The opening and show will now be at The Art Spot ._, on 2011 Magazine St. For the third year in a row, we are collaborating with Kolaj Institute to bring this exhibition to the NOPA community during Kolaj Fest!

Come by the Photo Alliance to see our current exhibition, Holding Ground: On Gathering.
The New Orleans Photo Alliance invited photographers to explore gathering as both a hidden influence and a beacon of resilience.

From elite networks wielding unchecked global power to community demonstrations of joy and protest — including Mardi Gras here in our own city — we show images that reflect how communities, large and small, convene in an uncertain world. Work reflecting abstract and expansive interpretations of gathering are also represented.
