PET SPOTLIGHT🐶: Meet Pearl, a member of visiting pet program for the past year.

Her favorite part of visiting at her designated facility is licking the hands of all the residents at Lambeth House. Her favorite thing to do is chase squirrels and cats who get close to her yard.

Fun fact: she waits patiently every afternoon in the window for Keke (the mail lady) to arrive to give her a treat. She cries with glee when Keke arrives!

PET SPOTLIGHT🐶: Meet Hamilton, a member of visiting pet program since 2018.

His favorite part about visiting at his designated facility is cuddling with patients at Children’s Hospital. His favorite thing to do is play with balls.

Fun fact: Hamilton has unusually short legs for a Cocker Spaniel.

Behind the scenes of our Visiting Pet Program workshop today!

This workshop is required for new members as they enter their probationary stage so they can learn needed handling skills as well as tips and tricks from current members.

This workshop is also required of current members every 2 years as a refresher and as a way to share ideas with our incoming class.

Big shoutout to our small demo dog and large demo dog who model appropriate interaction and techniques in a variety of situations that members will encounter in nursing home and hospital settings.

PET SPOTLIGHT🐱: Meet George, a member of visiting pet program since 2019.

His favorite part of visiting at his designated facility is spending time with his fans as he gets many special requests during his visits. He is popular.

Fun fact: George was a rescue from a vet. He was a clinic cat after his original owner couldn’t keep him. At his human’s house, he doesn’t let the family hold him much. But on visits he is so good with being held and with other people petting him!

PET SPOTLIGHT: Meet Maverick, a member of Visiting Pet Program since spring of 2025.

His favorite part of visiting at his designated facility is being social and walking in the facilities with his fellow visiting pets. Once he is with the residents, his favorite thing to do is to sit next to them, but sometimes he is so comfortable with the residents that he will simply lie down as if he could just hang out there all evening! His favorite thing to do is catch the frisbee, watch his squirrel friends in the backyard, steal his family’s socks, and go for walks in the neighborhood with his best dog friend, Todd.

Fun fact: Maverick accompanies the piano by singing along. He especially loves Christmas carols!
