This week marks ten years since Nashville Steam announced the goal of relocating and restoring Nashville, Chattanooga, & St. Louis No. 576 to full operation. We are now closer than ever to making that dream in to a reality. While the locomotive is the face of the organization, it is the people behind the scenes who are the real heroes. The second picture is just a small fraction of the hundreds of volunteers who have been involved over the years to get where we are today. It's through their dedication that we will soon be hearing the rhythm of the rails echoing again through the heart of Music City and the Middle Tennessee countryside.

We would like to offer our utmost thanks and appreciation to those individuals, our donors, as well as our restoration partners at the Tennessee Central Railway Museum and R. J. Corman Railroad Group for their assistance with No. 576. Several new items will be available at the Nashville Steam - Tennessee Central Open House & Train Show! this Saturday, including the latest offering from our friends at W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co.! The "Steam Up 2026" knife commemorates the upcoming steam tests and celebrates the 10th anniversary of announcing our goal to restore No. 576. AND one of these limited edition knife and case sets will be raffled off for $5 per ticket! All proceeds will go directly to the restoration and steam test fund. Every dollar (or five) helps!

Raffle tickets will only be sold during the open house, winner does not need to be present to win.

We're a couple of weeks away from the Nashville Steam - Tennessee Central Open House & Train Show! This is your chance to get an up close look at the progress on No. 576. The Tennessee Central Railway Museum will have their fleet of 1950s passenger cars open with lunch service available in the dining car! Don't miss this day of Nashville railroading!

Last month, our good friends Old Crow Medicine Show stopped by the shop for a photo shoot with No. 576 and other spots at the Tennessee Central Railway Museum. They needed an industrial setting for their upcoming album and we gladly welcomed them in! This continues a long tradition of 576 serving as the backdrop for musicians, albums, commercials, and magazine spreads. Look out for their new album this summer!

We have power! 🚂💡 THANK YOU to the Emery Rail Heritage Trust for selecting Nashville Steam as one of this year's grant award recipients! This grant will go towards components and the future installation of No. 576's new electrical system. The Emery Trust previously provided funding for the overhaul of the locomotive's air pump, running gear work, and refurbishment of the crossheads and guides. We want to thank them for their continued support of 576!

Now that the dust has settled from the arrival of the New Year, we're excited to announce the shop has come alive with the arrival and installation of our NEW superheater units! Thanks to our donors for helping end 2025 strong with over $50,000 in donations, exceeding our goal!

The restoration of No. 576 is quickly approaching a critical time with steam tests just around the bend. Check back for more updates as we get closer to bringing the rhythm of the rails back to Music City!

Beneath the lights and ornaments, we can’t help but marvel at all of the miniature trains making their winter rounds, with one in particular capturing our imagination. A solemn reminder that some traditions never lose their magic.
