Tennessee ranks #44 out of 50 states in America's Health Rankings, and the numbers behind that ranking tell a very important story.

Over 300,000 Tennesseans are uninsured with no access to healthcare, and that number is growing every single day. Meanwhile, $1.4 billion in federal tax dollars sit in Washington each year, waiting to be used in Tennessee.

81,000 Tennesseans fall in what's called the "coverage gap," meaning they earn too much to qualify for Medicaid but too little to afford marketplace subsidies. Tennessee is one of only 10 states that has still refused to expand Medicaid (as of February 2025), leaving hundreds of thousands without a path to affordable healthcare.

And 1.5 million Tennesseans went through the Medicaid "unwinding” process in 2024, which terminated over 500,000 people from Medicaid's TennCare.
