5 PM Update:
We will continue to provide the virtual meeting option via the link below, as well as an in-person meeting. However, the in-person location will be at the Lighthouse at the First Baptist Church, located at 139 East Mitchell Street, Trimble. For those attending in person, please be advised that a safe shelter will be accessible in the event of a weather threat.

The Trimble Forward Alliance prioritizes the safety of our members and guests. Due to the potential for strong storms this evening, we are offering both in-person and virtual attendance options.

The Dyer County Schools BOE rejected what would be the county's first public charter school during a process that differed from how other school districts approach charters. Trimble Forward Alliance will have the opportunity to file an amended application for Trimble Academy later this summer.

Tonight, the Dyer County school board voted to decline Trimble Forward Alliance's charter school application for Trimble Academy.

Are we disappointed, of course. Are we discouraged, no.

It is common for school boards to deny charter applications during the initial review phase.

Does this signify the end of Trimble Academy?

Absolutely not.

We remain committed to the process. Our immediate next step is to submit an amended application. We are already working with an independent review team to assist in any changes indicated by the State Scoring Rubric. If the application is denied a second time we will appeal to the state level Public Charter School Commission.

A charter school initiative isn't for the faint of heart. It is hard work. It requires significant dedication and effort. Trimble Forward Alliance possesses the commitment and resolve to achieve our objective for our small-town community and every child and parent in Dyer County who desire a choice in education.
