Approximately 20% of former foster youth become homeless during the transition to adulthood, according to a 2024 study. This is higher than the estimated 4% lifetime prevalence of homelessness in the general population.
Thriving After Care, lovingly referred to as TAC, is for young adults (ages 18-23) who are transitioning out of the foster care system to provide them with the life skills necessary to succeed. Classes include cooking; financial literacy; resume building and applying for a job; finding housing; advanced schooling, etc.
