🎒🌱 Back to School at The Immokalee Foundation! 🌱🎒

We’re officially kicking off another exciting year, and the halls are already filled with laughter, energy, and students ready to grow.

On September 14, our middle school students begin Career Exploration, where they’ll discover new interests, build confidence, and learn about high‑demand careers.

On September 17, our high school students return to immerse themselves in career‑focused learning, internships, certifications, and hands‑on experiences that prepare them for college and the workforce.

This year will bring:
✨ Career trips
✨ College tours
✨ Special speakers
✨ Industry visitors
✨ And a celebration of our 35th anniversary!

We’re wishing all our students a fantastic start to the year, and we can’t wait to see everything they accomplish.

A Powerful Partnership for Immokalee Students 🤝🏫

The Immokalee Foundation’s partnership with FGCU has expanded into dual enrollment through the SWFL CEO Leadership Program, giving Immokalee High School students a chance to earn college credit while developing leadership, business, and entrepreneurial skills.

This school year, 12 juniors and seniors are participating. Students who meet FGCU’s eligibility requirements spend first and second period at The Immokalee Foundation, learning directly from FGCU professors and receiving daily support from program facilitators who guide them through college‑level coursework.

Through this experience, students earn six dual‑enrollment credits while strengthening communication, collaboration, problem‑solving, and leadership skills.

🔧🏠 Career Pathways Week: Engineering & Construction Management Spotlight! 🏠🔧

We’re starting Career Pathways Week with a highlight from our Engineering & Construction Management pathway.

This past summer, several of our students participated in a summer internship program with Habitat for Humanity, building housing off Immokalee Rd. They worked alongside professionals to bring classroom lessons to life while building new homes in one of the fastest‑growing areas of our community.

They learned how to measure, frame, and build with precision, but they also learned something deeper: how construction brings comfort, stability, and hope to families. Their hands‑on experience gave them a powerful look at what it means to contribute to the future of Southwest Florida.

We’re proud of their hard work, their teamwork, and their growing confidence as they prepare for careers that strengthen our region.

Southwest Florida is growing FAST! Like..another 250,000 people by 2030 fast. And with more people comes more need:
More nurses.
More engineers.
More teachers.

More EVERYTHING. 😅

That’s why Career Pathways Program matters.
Our students are learning real skills, exploring high‑demand fields, and building confidence that will carry them straight into the workforce pipeline SWFL desperately needs.

From Engineering & Construction Management to Healthcare, Education & Human Services, and Business Management & Entrepreneurship, they’re preparing to become the professionals who keep our region strong. The ones who rebuild after storms, support families, strengthen infrastructure, and answer the call when SWFL needs them most.

💙👩‍⚕️ Attention! We have a future physician in the making!

We’ve spent all week celebrating our middle schoolers… so let’s end with a student who basically said...I’m going to crush STEM camp AND get a 4.0. Watch me. 😄✨

Meet Stephanie, a 7th grader who joined The Immokalee Foundation last year and immediately started shining. She spent her summer at the FGCU STEM Camp, diving into hands‑on projects and exploring all four career pathways...engineering, healthcare, business, and education.

Somewhere between building things, testing things, and asking a LOT of questions, she discovered her future dream: becoming a physician. 🩺❤️

Stephanie is proof that middle schoolers are unstoppable when curiosity meets opportunity.
We’re so proud of her, and we can’t wait to see what she does next. 🌱💙

💙🌱 EARLY EXPLORATION = BIG FUTURES 🌱💙

DID YOU KNOW?! Students who explore careers early are 2.5× more likely to stay engaged in school, which is exactly why middle school Career Exploration is such a big deal.

From hands‑on lessons to field trips to quarterly advocate check‑ins, our students are figuring out who they are, what they love, and what they definitely don’t want to do (middle school honesty is undefeated 😄).

And in 8th grade? They build their Career Action Plan, the “future GPS” that guides them into high school pathways, focused training, and internships.

Speaking of high school....TONIGHT THE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TAKE THEIR PLEDGE!

🌟 Meet Esmeralda — Our Immokalee Middle School Coordinator 🌟

Middle school is loud, busy, unpredictable… and somehow still perfectly organized thanks to Esmeralda, The Immokalee Foundation’s Middle School Coordinator. 💙

She’s curating curriculum, coordinating field trips, orchestrating community panels, and guiding students through Career Exploration, all while keeping a straight face during peak middle‑school chaos. 😄

Her guiding belief is beautiful:
“Plant the seed of possibility, nurture it with opportunity, and watch our students grow into their dreams.” 🌱✨

And our students are never alone.
Every quarter, advocates meet with them to check in, offer support, and help them stay on track...even when life gets busy, loud, or full of middle‑school energy.

We’re looking forward to another outstanding year!💙🌱

Alumni Spotlight 🤩 Meet, Elvis!

Elvis joined The Immokalee Foundation in 2014 with one goal: to find guidance in choosing the right career path. What he discovered was a support system that lifted his entire family.

Through the Business & Entrepreneurship Pathway, Elvis gained confidence, clarity, and exposure to real career opportunities. The The Immokalee Foundation helped him prepare for college entrance exams, complete applications, and relieve financial stress, giving his family peace of mind and giving Elvis the freedom to focus on his dreams.

In May 2025, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship from FGCU.
Today, he’s thriving in a professional world that offers more flexibility and less stress than he expected, allowing him to grow personally and professionally.

Elvis shared:
“The Immokalee Foundation transformed my life… they encouraged my growth and shaped me into a more capable and determined individual.”

He is grateful, inspired, and motivated to one day empower the next generation, just as he was empowered.

Our middle school teachers spent today in training, gearing up for an exciting new year of Career Exploration. Their dedication ensures students build real‑world skills through research, presentations, collaboration, and hands‑on learning.

Students will explore four high‑demand pathways:
📈 Business Management & Entrepreneurship
🔧 Engineering & Construction Management
📚 Education & Human Services
❤️ Healthcare

From designing businesses to solving engineering challenges to exploring medical cases, students will begin discovering their strengths and potential.
This work helps them connect what they’re learning today to the careers and opportunities waiting for them tomorrow.
