Last week, MHTBA Executive Director Christina Henderson joined Montana entrepreneurs, educators, and business leaders at the inaugural CoBuild Summit at the University of Montana.

Christina moderated "The Missing Middle Meets the Silver Tsunami" panel feat. Andy Anderson, Christy Johnson, Nicole Borner, and Carissa McNamara, focused on business succession, local ownership models, and opportunities to strengthen Montana's communities.

The Summit also featured a "Building the Builders" panel with Dr. Erik Guzik, Harmen Steele, PhD, Monica Serban, Eric Harry, and Graham Conran, exploring how mentorship, access to resources, and stronger networks can support entrepreneurs and strengthen Montana’s innovation economy.

ICYMI: On Oct. 15, 2026, Governor Gianforte announced the Montana Department of Labor & Industry was awarded $4.8 million through the U.S. Department of Labor’s Industry-Driven Skills Training Fund to expand employer-led workforce training in high-demand industries like advanced manufacturing, computing, and construction.

The funding will establish the Montana Skills Fund, a statewide program that will help employers train newly hired and incumbent workers for in-demand jobs.

“Montana employers know best which skills their workers need to succeed,” Gov. Gianforte said. “Through the Montana Skills Fund, we’re putting employers in the driver’s seat, expanding access to good-paying careers, and building a stronger workforce to support Montana’s growing industries.”
