The troop had a fun spring Court of Honor on Tuesday, followed by a successful fundraiser on Saturday. A big Thank You to Lisa Black for her help in planning and organizing this. She was able to drum up lots of community support for donations. Members of the Missoula Moose Lodge 556 were very helpful in donating and supporting our event. Our Charter, First Christian Church, is always helpful in providing a great location and support to our youth. A big Thank You to the troop families for items and food, and to the Missoula community for their support! It all was appreciated!

Congratulations Nixin and other Spartans on your recent accomplishments.!!!

Alyssa, Kincaid, Nixin, and William are the top-ranked students in the country for their specific business and tech categories. This is the highest level of achievement in the Workplace Skills Assessment Program.

Alyssa Stephens won first in the state in March and just took home first in the country in Ethics and Professionalism.

Kincaid Fiscus, Nixin Wright, and William Sivertsen also took first in the state in March and took first place in the country for the Computer Animation Team!

We are so proud to call these students Sentinel Spartans!

This past week the scouts worked on preparing wooden boxes to be used at the Veterans Cemetery during their Memorial Day event. The boxes were sanded and assembled to hold the cremains of veterans that served our country. Troop 1911 remembers and is grateful for all the men and women that have given so much to our country and freedom. As a troop, we have had many great leaders who promoted scouting values and have helped many boys develop until strong young men.

"And now, may the Great Master of all Scouts be with us until we meet again."

Congratulations to Knox from Troop 1911 in Montana as the winner of the Many Point 80th Anniversary Design Contest!

Among entries from Scouts across the country, Knox’s design was selected to represent 80 years of adventure, leadership, friendship, and memories at Many Point Scout Camp.

Thank you to every Scout who submitted artwork, shared ideas, and participated in the voting process. The creativity, camp spirit, and excitement behind this contest made it something truly special.

Knox’s winning design will be featured as part of the 80th Anniversary celebration throughout 2026.

Congratulations again, Knox, and thank you for helping tell the story of Many Point’s past, present, and future.

Troop 1911 enjoyed a great weekend with Troops 1114, 1115 and 1919. We combined to have a very productive Trail to First Class. We camped at the beautiful Featherstone Ranch outside of Florence on the Bitterroot River.

Saturday marked the return of the "Big Bird Breakfast" as Eric Henderson was able to procure an ostrich and emu egg, combined with some geese and chicken eggs from Ernst's flock. During the day, the older scouts from all troops were able to share some knowledge with the younger scouts to get rank requirements signed off. The lashings were top notch and the tower had never looked so good (or straight). All the victims requiring first aid survived. Totin' chip and firem'n chit were completed.

Older scouts helped Eric assemble a sweat lodge and put it to use.

"Patrol Name" or was it the "Name" patrol won the dessert competition with their dutch oven donuts. Most of the comments at the end of the camp revolved around how good the food was this time.

Thanks to all the scout leaders that helped to make this possible!

Troop 1911 spent a wonderful weekend at the Lubrecht Experimental Forest. A big thank you to Frank Maas for sharing all his skills and knowledge about the area. The perfect setting to work on the Forestry merit badge. The scouts were able to see the importance in forest management, the utilization of fire, and how science can help determine a better plan in forest health. The scouts were able to take core samples of trees, measure and determine the board feet in a big log. We had 3 new scouts who had never camped with the troop. Of course, lots of games and good food.

Scouts from Troop 1911 were able to hone their ice skating skills and work on the Skating merit badge this past week. Scouts from our sister troop 1919 also participated. Fortunately, no first aid skills were needed or used on this outing. Many scouts were brave, battling their fear of getting out on the ice and falling. Others were helpful in teaching some new skills to fellow scouts. Thanks to the Wright family for sharing your knowledge!

A small contingent of 1911 scouts participated in the Klondike this year. Lead by SPL Knox, the group won the Scout Spirit Award, 1st Place in First Aid, and 1st Place in hatchet throwing thanks to Jack sticking his tomahawk in the log. No snow this year so the sled will have to wait until next year to get the rust knocked off. Super proud of the effort the younger scouts gave and Knox did a great job as SPL.

Troop 1911 was able to spend a beautiful blue sky day skiing at Discovery Ski Resort. Thanks to the Corbett family for allowing us to stay at their cabin on Georgetown Lake. I was unable to catch many of the skiers for actions shots, but heard some great tales. The pair in the video I did catch up to, do not believe in doing any turns or using brakes. I would be interested to know how many times they made it down Gold Bug. Back at the cabin, we were able to enjoy lots of board and card games. Somehow, the new "Uno show no mercy" version with modified house rules can get you booted from the game with a draw 20, I found this out the hard way, I didn't even have time to organize my hand before I was out and relegated to being a spectator.
